Kirby: Canvas Curse Gets A Sequel

Kirby: Canvas Curse Gets A Sequel

Nintendo is reviving one of the quirkier titles in its already quirky Kirby franchise for the Wii U, the company just announced during its E3 Nintendo Direct address. The new game is called Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and it’s a sequel to the cult favourite Kirby: Canvas Curse.

Canvas Curse was originally released back in 2005 for the DS. It had an unusual mechanic by Kirby standards: rather than controller the little pink guy directly, players used the stylus to draw lines in the scenery that he could roll along them, Lemmings-style. Or they could just poke him to make him go somewhere.

The new Wii U game looks like its revisiting this artsy stylus-focused type of gameplay, but with a charming new claymation style. Nintendo said it’s slated for a 2015 release.
