'GayStation' Is Now A Real Thing

'GayStation' Is Now A Real Thing

If you've frequented many gaming message boards, you've probably seen the term "GayStation" tossed around as a cheap slur. Seems it's about time LGBT activists tried to reclaim it.

This custom rainbow PS4, dubbed the 'Gaystation' by its creators, is being auctioned during Sweden's pride week to benefit the Swedish LGBT rights group RFSL. Current bidding is at 17,200 Swedish krona, or around $2675. Not bad!

If you'd told me someone was making a pride-themed rainbow PS4, I probably would have assumed it'd be garish and ugly. Happily, this console actually looks pretty sweet.

This is pretty cool. Using references to sexuality as slurs is kinda gross. The sooner we all get out of the habit of using them that way the better.

yet another example of games industry pandering to the gay minority

      Yet another example?
I hardly ever see any "pandering" to the gay minority.
There's times where the issue is raised, but unless you've been living under a rock, it's kind of a big issue at the moment.
I'll take any form of positive awareness raising though, which is what this is.

Did you even read the article? I'm guessing you saw the picture and scrolled to the comments section to type your tripe.

Rainbow has 7 colors not 6.
