You’d scream too if you did something better and faster than anyone else in the world. Like completing the notoriously hard video game Spelunky. So, yeah, let the guy holler.
A combination of luck and gear helped German speedrunner Pibonacci post a completion time of 1:55.353 in an Olmec run last night. The previous record was 2:01.396, held by runner Samots. Sure, some of the procedurally generated levels work out in Pibonacci’s favour during his frantic playthrough. But you can still see a superlative amount skill and instinct in his run, especially when he probes this way and that to figure out the fastest teleport routes. Me? I would have teleported right into that lava.

I would play Spelunky if they got rid of the stupid level timer. I want to explore, you know, like spelunking maybe?
It would be WAY too easy without the timer. And the ghost isn’t actually that big a deal, as long as you’re careful.
There is a lot of time to explore considering the level layouts, and the ghost is essential for high scores because of its gem->diamond ability, but if you’re after a more sedate alternative then check out Steam World Dig – Spelunky is much more about the tension and high risk/reward of a Rogue-like-like.
Otherwise I suggest messing around with some mods for the original free Spelunky – not only are there ghost-free versions, but some change up the sorts of items and abilities in the game (I recommend Spelunky X and Spelunky Unlimited as two I enjoy – the former adds XP used to buy abilities so monster-hunting becomes more useful, and the latter has random unlimited levels for an endurance rather than end-game target along with some new items to make it less brutal)
