Thanks to a 3DS modded with a capture kit, ‘Twitch Plays Pokémon’ finally ventures into the Kalos region. With Lady Helix on the team, how can it fail?
Finally the hivemind-controlled Pokémon insanity makes it to the sixth generation of games. The 3DS HDMI mod was required to advance to the current gen, as previous generations were streamed via PC emulation, and there is currently no way to emulate 3DS games.
As of this writing, the group-controlled trainer is trying to navigate that tricky hedge maze from Pokémon X and Y, and I suspect he’ll be there for quite some time, what with nearly 2,000 people inputting commands all at once.
As Joystiq points out, having Pokémon X running on real hardware means the group will have access to the game’s network functions, which so far has resulted in a trade for the goddess Lady Helix, long may she reign.
You can watch all the action here, and by action I mean bumping into things over and over again. It’s inspiring!

I’d totally forgotten about this. I didn’t realise they were still going.

Here is a proper link.
I want to see this on heart gold, would be great to see it in a region i actually know.
I think they did Gold already?
Really? I must be living under a rock ;_;
Well it was just regular Gold, not Heart Gold. Unless they did Heart Gold in the meantime and I just heard no mention of it, but I don’t think they were doing any remakes at all.
Gold followed right on from Red, only about a week or two after they finished.
Dammit. I missed out on joining in.
Does anyone know whether they had the issue of selecting a language the very first time you load the game; or did they just bypass that? It was a joke they had back when they were still playing Red that if it ever got to X and Y they might’ve selected a non-English language, and that would’ve been hilarious.
