’90s Hercules TV Star Actor Sounds Like A Racist Old Man

Most of us would like to think actor Kevin Sorbo is, and forever will be, the shirtless hunk from Hercules. Sadly, Hercules was a long time ago. It is now 2014, and these days Sorbo sounds like a terrible person.

Writing on Facebook about the ongoing unrest in Ferguson, the actor mused “Ferguson riots have very little to do with the shooting of the young man. It is an excuse to be the losers these animals truly are.”

Give that a moment to sink in.

“It is a tipping point to frustration built up over years of not trying, but blaming everyone else, The Man, for their failures. It’s always someone else’s fault when you give up.”

Just to be clear that he’s talking about African Americans, and not just protestors, he adds that Michael Brown’s death is somehow a “reminder to the African Americans ( I always thought we just Americans. Oh, well.) that their President the voted in has only made things worse for them, not better.”

He’s since deleted his comments and issued one of those half-assed “I’m sorry to everyone I offended” apologies instead of an actual “I’m sorry I said some truly awful shit”.

The Raw Story captured more of what we wrote before it was pulled, however, including this gem: “The media promotes chaos to boost their pathetic ratings. We should shut them all off and watch clips on the internet only when republished under fair use by a conservative media watchdog group.”

Ah well. We’ll always have Xena.

Actor Kevin Sorbo: Ferguson unrest let black protesters be the ‘animals’ they ‘truly are’ [The Raw Story]

  • He was also in a god-awful born-again christian thing and is soon going to be in a film about chemtrails.

    • Like fellow D-list celebrities Kirk Cameron and Stephen Baldwin, he realised the only market that would still pay to see him in movies is Evangelicals, so he’s milking the white rage as long as he can. He was recently in that ‘God’s Not Dead’ movie where he played a sneering atheistic strawman.

  • At least he’s right in the sense that we shouldn’t be watching mainstream media. Livestreams are about the only way you can get true accounts that aren’t taking sides (and let’s not use conservative media watchdogs either).

But wow, Sorbo, I expected more from HERCULES

  • “Just to be clear that he’s talking about African Americans,”
” ( I always thought we just Americans. Oh, well.)”

You just called them African americans, the said we are all americans.

    • Almost. If you look closely he states “I always thought we just Americans”.
      We just Americans indeed Herc.

  • My childhood memories over the last year have been destroyed. Rold Harris, Hey Dad! and now Hercules?! Give me my childhood back!

  • I always like Iolaus better anyways. he could do 95% of the stuff Hercules could, without the super strength – and he was actually funny (at the time of the mid 90’s, not by todays standards).

      • Which is one of many reasons why Michael Hurt made such a hilarious woman when they killed off his Iolaus character in the show but still wanted him to make appearances.

  • American politics is so ridiculously bad, only takes one racist old man blaming every black man for his hatred of his black president trying to improve the country to remind me that no matter how bad our politics is, at least it’s just petty crap and we don’t hate each other for it. Just the politicians :p.

A political persuasion in the USA is like swearing allegiance to a religion and going on a holy war.

  • Shameful sh1t. At least he didn’t go with the ‘my account got hacked’ excuse though.

  • If your protest involves looting and burning shops night after night…
“It is an excuse to be the losers these animals truly are.”
This isn’t in reference to those who are protesting peacefully.

  • He is entitled to his opinion.

Sorry, but he has a point.
edit: My point is people are protesting fair enough, but what about the rioting, that’s no good and it shows much of the mentality of the people that is rioting.

    • I agree, some people are just looking at it as an excuse to cause trouble and riot….happens here in Australia too. Muslim riots in Sydney or the Cronulla riots before that.

    • Yup, saying “I’m really upset some guy got brutally shot, I’ll just be taking this TV as compensation” is utter bullshit.

As is tying this behaviour to African Americans. Acting shitty is a human thing in general.

  • I dont get what the issue is. Blacks kill more other blacks than anyone else. Blacks make up 12% of the american population yet commit 52% of all murders nation wide. (fbi crime stats before you say I’m making shit up, go look). The justification of another of their own getting killed to go out and loot, rape and murder, which most was actually other blacks and their businesses makes no sense at all.

The minority of blacks are just everyday normal people, while the majority who fall into thinking being thugs and gangsters is somehow manly and how black people should act and live their lives.
They have no one other than themselves to blame for their savagery and idiocy.

    • Whoa there….
Your FBI crime stats may be accurate but you have to bear in mind that they would be for “convictions”. In the US an African American male is far more likely to be convicted of a crime and go to jail than a white male. They are disproportionately represented in the prison population. Some of this may be the macho gangsta bullshit, but a lot of it is linked to socio-economic position and those who have limited finances are unable to pay for lawyers.

In Missouri, 24% of black men have a criminal record. A lot of this can be blamed on the US judicial system where if one “fights” a charge the penalty is increased. So most simply plead guilty to get the minimum penalty. In the entire US, blacks make up approx 14% of drug users, but 46% of convictions.

Stop and look at any number of high profile white ‘celebrities’ who are caught DUI, in possession of drugs, assault, etc. How many end up in jail? If you are black approx 100%. If you are white and rich approx 0%.

I don’t think rioting is the answer. But saying “blacks kill blacks, so what?” is diverting from the real issue: an officer of the law shot and killed an unarmed man, who (it seems) was not an immediate threat and the entire US justice system is failing.

  • This on a completely different scale to Australia. There is allot more poor/unhappy/pissed off people in America due to their appalling welfare, public education and minimum wage. I think we would be having the same crime and police brutality in Australia if we had the same policies as America. Mind you, Abbott is trying to take us in that direction.
