It’s been a tough few months for some members of the #PCMasterRace what with the hotly anticipated universe exploration simulator No Man’s Sky being treated as a PS4 exclusive. But it turns out Hello Games’ little project will also get a PC release. Eventually.
In the newest issue of Edge — via Gamespot — the team confirmed that No Man’s Sky is indeed a PS4 exclusive, but only for a while. Hello Games will put the colourful game on PC some time after it launches on PS4. So PC gamer nerds will get to experience it, but only after the console casuals* get a shot at it.
Hello’s Sean Murray explained to Edge that there is a practical purpose to the timed exclusivity: establishing a technological standard for the procedurally generated game by leading with a console with set specs.
“Unlike most games, the actual hardware really affects what we can do in terms of the richness of the worlds and things like that,” Murray said. “It isn’t just adding a veneer of resolution, or extra antialiasing options. It has a real effect on what we can actually do in the universe.”
But I guess us PC gamers can take solace in assuming that our venerable hardware probably will support better antialiasing options than the PS4 does.
Now, if you wanna know more about No Man’s Sky, Tina did some cool writeups out of E3 on it. Start with this one.
*for the record, my PS4 rests on top of my tower PC.

Wasnt this confirmed two days ago by Kotaku?
Slow news day lol
We now have confirmation of that confirmation.
Can we get a confirmation on that?
Confirmed.
I concurr.
Lets not forget the glorious 60fps on Pc apart from higher resolution and extra graphical tweaking.
Cool, I’ll pick it up on PC then. $50+ at launch on PS4, or $25 at launch on PC. Or $8 on Steam sale.
I like your thinking man
When ?
I very highly doubt it will be $50 on ps4 lol, itll probably be treated as an indie title and be priced at $30 tops.. but I’d guess $20.
PS4 owners can beta test it for us
Wow, so arrogant.
Has there been any talk of an xbone version?
Nope, nope, never, and nope 😉 enjoy
well it was never actually confirmed for PC. All that was said is that they had PC in mind when developing. Hate how the media always take a tiny detail and then assume the rest.
I may buy a PS4 just so I don’t have to bare the wait. I’m rather impatient you see, and this game definitely looks like a keeper. Plus I’d probably have to build a new PC anyways since my current is starting to cough and sputter with newer games.
