Much like the Miis on the Nintendo 3DS, the new JRPG Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines allows you to create a character by taking a picture of yourself with the Vita’s camera. Of course, why limit it to being based on your face when there are so many pictures of famous people out there?
Thus, I picked a group of famous people to see how well the game was able to recreate their faces. Some turned out somewhat recognisable… others not so much.
In fact, to be completely honest, I did help the game a bit by matching the eye/hair colours and hair styles manually after the fact (as it seemed to have problems distinguishing them correctly on its own). However, the faces are 100% computer generated and unaltered by me.
Note: The picture on the left is the picture I had the game use to create the in-game model on the right.

Did you add hair to yourself?
I think it did a pretty decent job with the exception of RDJ, if you overlook that there doesn’t appear to be facial hair support and you absolutely must have hair and can’t be bald/shaved on top then it is more hits than misses.
I liked RDJ. It got his nose right.
Overall – these are fantastic. What did you expect – photorealism? This is JRPG stylised into a certain age range. Older faces, out of scope faces won’t work well (eg wrinkles/bald). The Oprah one worked far better than I would have expected. The only oddity for me is Michael Jackson.
The 2 Japanese guys you used (Ken Watanabe & Takeshi Kitano) come out looking exactly the same except for short hair on one.
Is this game racist? Is it saying all Japanese look alike to it? We must boycott this racist game immediately!
You missed Takeshi Kaneshiro.
Put this into Sword Art Online! Volia!
