Seems like I might have exaggerated the whole ‘here comes the flood’ thing. Another week with pretty much zip zero. Madden is out this week, as is the pretty cool Metro Redux package. But that’s yer whack a big releases.
Appointment With F.E.A.R. (PC)
What is it? An interactive graphic novel about superheroes and whatnot.
Should you care? I don’t know enough about this to judge, but sounds interesting.
Bird Assassin (PC)
What is it? A 2D platforming shooter that looks half terrible half hilarious.
Should you care? This might be a bit of throwaway fun.
Draconian Wars (PC)
What is it? It’s a card game. Those seem to be the latest thing. In a year’s time I reckon I’ll be whinging about this instead of retro-style 2D platformers.
Should you care? I don’t know enough about card games, but Hearthstone exists, so there’s that. Might be hard to recommend this over Hearthstone.
Lethal League (PC)
What is it? You know the Ganon boss fight in every Zelda ever? Batting magic like a tennis ball back and forth? That’s Lethal League, in two-player Street Fighter II form.
Should you care? This looks cool. Has slick animation, a cool high concept.
Madden NFL 2015 (Xbox One/PS4/360/PS3)
What is it? Well, it’s Madden. A new one. You know the drill.
Should you care? Goes without saying you have to be a fan of NFL, but this tends to be of a high quality.
Metro: Redux (PS4/PC)
What is it? One of those schmancy remakes for next-gen consoles.
Should you care? I think this might be a great package. Especially worthwhile on consoles. I’m super keen.
Super Time Force Ultra (PC)
What is it? A platformer with dinosaurs and time travel. SOLD.
Should you care? This has been getting some seriously solid reviews. Sounds worth checking out.
Buying anything this week? Let us know in the comments below.

Metro is next week
I think its still this week on Steam
Is it also on Xbone?
I may have to pick up Redux after launch, 2033 and LL were some of my favourite games of last-gen and the previous owners deal on Steam makes it a lot more appealing, especially since I originally spent less than $10 to get both.
Aside from The Last Of Us at the end of July, I’ve done incredibly well to not really pick anything up… I’ve wanted to pick up some of the newly released PSN stuff, but held strong.
I’m keen for Metro, but I’ll pick it up at a later time… the next purchase will be in 2 weeks for me and it will be, Danganronpa 2 : Goodbye Despair
Holy moly, where didn’t know Danranronpa 2 was out so soon!
Unless the dates have changed since I last looked, Disgaea 4 Vita and Hyperdimension Neptunia Vita reboot are out this week.
Hnghnghghnmh Disgaea 4, yes.
King’s Bounty: Dark Side ? always been a bit under rated
I was gonna grab metro on the bone but steam just had a sale where I got both for 10 bucks, which is awesome for me. Saved my self some coin, seems a bit silly though having a sale just before the HD re release.
Remember you can upgrade to the Redux versions for $12.50 each if you own the originals on Steam. I picked up the original for $2.99 then did that.
I did no know that thanks. To me though these versions look friggin great. Does the redux version add anything apart from visuals?
Last Light not really.
2033 yes, definitely. Apart from a much greater visual jump than in Last Light Redux , it also adds some new areas, adds the weapon customisation and vastly improved stealth/gun mechanics from Last Light, and rearranges the missions for a better story flow (such as combining levels or adding new transitions).
There’s also the ability to play in either Spartan or Survival mode: Spartan is more like Last Light in that it’s a bit more action-y, with ammo and the like being more plentiful, whereas Survival is, well, a bit more survival horror-ish. More of a focus on resource management etc.
It also adds some little touches, like cut scenes now being first person.
Yea, that was a strange sale – it turned out about $10 or $15 cheaper to get both Redux versions by buying the originals and then using the 50% discount that gave you on the redux versions, rather than buying the redux versions outright…
No mention of the Crown of the old iron king dlc for dark souls 2 coming out tomorrow? I thought you’d be all over that Mark
@markserrels is just bitter because he still has withdrawal symptoms from all his consoles being packed away in boxes (or have they now been unpacked? 😛 )
Ever since next-gen started I’ve been less excited over “This Week in Games” 🙁
InFamous First Light is out this week, too.
Is anyone else having trouble with their pre-order for this?
Pretty much decided to get 2033 Redux since I do want to play through that again and having it with the Last Light engine and reasonably functional stealth and melee system will make it a dramatically more enjoyable game. Given how enjoyable it was to begin with, I expect it’ll be awesome second time around.
I just got The Crew Beta… I’m good for this week
Am attempting to learn up on my NFL and buying Madden will be my first proper step in doing this. Friday Night Lights hasn’t taught me all that much besides how to yell “FOOTBALL” in a Texas accent.
