Smash Bros. fans might recall that, for whatever reason, Super Smash Bros. Brawl offered a detailed look at Princess Peach’s underpants. That doesn’t appear true for the newly released 3DS game.
Note: This article has content some readers might find objectionable.
As numerous gamers in Japan have pointed out on Japanese forum 2ch, it doesn’t seem possible to see, well, up Peach’s skirt. Some players will take this as a smart, progressive move on Nintendo’s part. Others will lament the loss of fan service. Maybe it’s just a sign of the times?
Instead of intricately rendered inner wear, like you’d see in Wii title Super Smash Bros. Brawl when Peach was flipped over or knocked off a platform, in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, the inside of her skirt is cloaked in darkness. The result is legs emerging from a void.
Here is how Nintendo rendered Peach’s undergarment in the past for the Wii. Realise that there were different colours.
And now, apparently, in the latest 3DS Smash Bros.
Some Smash Bros. owners have noted that there isn’t this dark void for Peach’s tennis outfit, but they think the rationale is different: a tennis skirt isn’t really a skirt and undergarments are not exposed. M’kay!
Maybe dressing Peach in more sensible fighting wear is a better answer? I can’t imagine trying to rumble in a frock. Then again, I’ve never tried that so what do I know.
