This Week In Games: Disney And Zelda. No Big Deal.

After the barnstorming release of Destiny, this week feels like a bit of a come-down. It’s hardly as dead as July and August, but there is a dearth of BIG AAA SUPER DUPER GAMES. The biggest releases this week? Most likely Disney Infinity 2.0 and Hyrule Warriors. Neither float my boat, but your mileage may vary.

Boson X (PC)

What is it? An endless grid runner thing.
Should you care? Originally on mobiles and it shows. Probably a bit flimsy and basic for PC.

Disney Infinity 2.0 (Xbox 360/PS3/Xbox One/PS4/Wii U/PS Vita)

What is it? It’s the Disney thing that’s like Skylanders and has a license to print money.
Should you care? I know a fair few adults who are obsessed with this. Not my thing.

Doorways: The Underworld (PC)

What is it? A first person horror game.
Should you care? This looks a little half-baked to me.

Great Permutator (PC)

What is it? Remember Pipemania? It’s sort of like that except with boxes.
Should you care? This looks quite fun. I’m a sucker for these kind of puzzle games.

Hero of Many (PC)

What is it? An ex-mobile game where you lead a swarm of water being through increasingly difficult levels.
Should you care? Whoa… how did I miss this on mobile? This game looks incredible. I need to play this.

Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)

What is it? Combines Zelda with Dynasty Warriors. What could go wrong?
Should you care? Despite being a massive Zelda fan, I just can’t muster up enthusiasm for this.

Pro Rugby Manager 2015 (PC)

What is it? Wait, they make those Football Manager style sims for Rugby? Whoa…
Should you care? Man, I used to love Championship Manager as a teenager. I’m sure there are people out there in Australia who would love this.

Reprisal Universe (PC)

What is it? A homage to Populous with the aesthetics of Minecraft.
Should you care? This looks quite unique. And there aren’t enough ‘God’ games out there for my liking. Investigate!

SPACECOM (PC)

What is it? A strategic space fleet command game.
Should you care? I like the minimalism of it. I think this will appeal to a specific niche.

The Waste Land (PC)

What is it? A metroidvania inspired by T.S. Eliot’s classic modernist poem. How can this not be the best game ever made?
Should you care? Actually, it looks a little average. That’s a shame. Has a helluva one line pitch.
