As Far As Anime Censorship Goes, This Is Pretty Ridiculous

As Far as Anime Censorship Goes, This Is Pretty Ridiculous

Terra Formars follows the struggle between humans and roaches for supremacy on Mars. Originally a manga, the anime's first three episodes have been censored to the point that it's distracting.

In the anime, there are black bars and dots cover parts deemed unsuitable -- like bad Photoshops. Here, have a look:

And if you are wondering what kind of stuff is being edited, here is a comparison with the original manga:

Note that this is how the anime is appearing on Japanese television and in online streams. It seems that blood and gore is getting the blunt end of the censorship stick, but other things are not.

Crunchyroll stated it will be streaming Terra Formars uncensored "at a later date". Or you could also get wait for the Blu-ray release.

Ungh. Censorship is actually making the anime worse.

But at least some people online have a good sense of humour about this whole thing.

OH. I've always wondered why they had all those silly half frames of faded white of black in anime, I thought it was just some stupid artistic thing, which in hindsight didn't really make much sense.

Censorship totally worth it for that Barkley photoshop.

The censorship totally ruined the episode. Supposedly they are going to air an uncensored version at a later date according to Crunchyroll - so im just gonna wait for that.

Started watching Parasyte instead - and after one episode im totally sold. Thoroughly looking forward to Wednesdays.

Watched Parasyte yesterday. Was impressed enough to get excited for the schedule once again. Past seasons this year have been really lacking imo.

When that dog started flying I was like ... right ... this is going to go south ... NEK MINNIT HEART SMOOSH. Great start to the season, hopefully it can keep up the momentum

Note to kotaku, better to put this story up in the morning, at at night so to avoid nightmare fuel, plus crunchyroll is airing this series uncensored soon

At least Tokyo Ghouls censorship was sort of okay.

I knew it was a good idea to drop it on the first episode. It just wasn't going to be worth my time.

The only animes I've seen with censorship are Tenjho Tenge and Love Hina. Now I just get stuff from *coughs*. Also, I have this sick urge to always check out stuff that I know have been censored and see what's gotten lost in translation. When I watch movies, I always go for the Uncut Unrated Director's Superexplicit Edition".
