This Week In Games: The Borderlands Within

October is the month where ALL VIDEO GAMES EVER are generally released, which makes this week a bit of a strange one. Sure, we have a few major releases — the new Borderlands, The Evil Within — but it’s actually a little bit quiet… TOO QUIET.

A City Sleeps (PC)

What is it? The latest game from Harmonix. A soundtrack driven shoot em up that looks spectacular.
Should you care? Man, I love pretty much everything Harmonix does. I’m super keen to check this out.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed (PS3/Vita)

What is it? This is a game where you kill vampires by stripping them of their clothes. Yes it was made in Japan.
Should you care? Apparently it’s pretty damn average.

Bik – A Space Adventure (PC)

What is it? This is a point and click adventure that apes the very first generation of graphic adventures.
Should you care? It’s reviewed fairly well, and the art does stuff to my nostalgia bone. Looks great.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (360/PS3/PC)

What is it? It’s Borderlands game that was made in Australia!
Should you care? Borderlands is Borderlands. This is on last-gen consoles only, which sort of takes away the excitement somewhat, but still well worth investigating.

Deep Dungeons of Doom (PC)

What is it? A dungeon crawler with (gasp) a retro aesthetic.
Should you care? This has been given props for being a unique, stripped down dungeon crawling experience. Sounds interesting.

F1 2014 (360/PS3/PC)

What is it? It’s the new F1 game ya dingus.
Should you care? Fans tend to love this series. What a redundant statement, but you get what I mean. This is an enthusiasts thing.

Legend of Grimrock 2 (PC)

What is it? A modern dungeon crawler with an old school heart — that’s how the developers are selling it. Sounds good to me.
Should you care? The first game did well, I’d expect this to do the same.

The Evil Within (Xbox One/PS4/360/PS3)

What is it? The much hyped horror game from Mikami.
Should you care? I’m thinking it could be great, but I’d wait for reviews before making the call on buying.

Did we miss anything? What are you buying this weekend?
