Bioware games are known for many things, including the inclusion of romance and sex. But boy, did Bioware outdo themselves this time.
Obviously, if you don’t want to be spoiled on romances in Dragon Age Inquisition, you shouldn’t keep reading!
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, behold. This is the sex scene that happens if you romance the Iron Bull, a Qunari Inquisition character voiced by Freddie Prinze, Jr. Thanks to DestinStrider for uploading it. And in case you’re wondering, yes, this is NSFW.
Amazing. I love how all the characters just keep standing there, staring. And I love that, in this way, this isn’t a sex scene at all — but it’s totally the sort of situation that happens in real life. Sometimes, people walk in on you while you’re having sex. There’s awkwardness, or sometimes, if it’s a friend, there are jokes. That’s what makes this scene so great, it feels human — at least, when compared to most attempts at showing sex in triple-A games.
As much as I get sucked into the romances in Bioware games, I recognise that most of their romance scenes in the past have been the bad kind of awkward. You feel as if you’re watching two dolls trying to touch each other. It’s not sexy, it doesn’t feel real, and everyone just sort of cringes. I also gotta give props in that this is a clever way of getting around having to show actual sex, which might be tougher to, ahem, nail.
I guess this sort of gives us more clues about the eternal question: would [insert Bioware protagonist here] be a top or bottom, too.
Finally, is it just me, or is this the sort of thing Mass Effect would never dare to do? And people ask me why I like Dragon Age better.

Loved it. Biowares really grown up a lot with DAI. It’s no longer ‘HEY ITS A SEX SCENE!’ it’s worked into the story as an incident, part of their actual lives, not just an achievement.
I don’t know about everyone else, but ‘sometimes, people walk in on you while you’re having sex’ has never applied to me. The most I can claim is a building caretaker perving on us from a carpark outside, which didn’t particularly bother us.
And for the record, I thought the scene between Liara and Shepard in ME3 was tasteful and moving.
You don’t have kids do you….
Ha ha, actually yes. I’ve just managed to outsmart them or wait for them to go to sleep. 😉
We were in the middle of it and looked up to see my eldest daughter (6 years old) sitting in the computer chair at the end of the bed staring at us . This was late at night.
Kaidan and Shepard in ME1 wasn’t that bad either.
Kaidan was a better voice actor. His dialogue was better.
Living with housemates gives you these wonderful experiences! 😛
I also thought the Mass Effect scenes were alright. Going back now the will probably seem more clunky but when I was playing through they still felt pretty great.
Context is so important for a lot of the scenes that happen in Mass Effect. I stumbled across a particular ME3 scene on youtube while I was playing ME2 because I couldn’t help myself, and felt no emotional connection. But once I got to that scene in my ME3 playthrough, I literally started crying.
My mother, once, fell off the bed grasping for covers, left my poor partner completely without.
It took me several readings of this statement to realise you weren’t talking about walking in on your partner and mother.
I’ve had my father walk in on my then girlfriend and I. I thought it was hilarious, but not as funny as the awkward breakfast table talk later that morning.
Yep my dad once walked in to a reverse cowgirl situation. He did apologise, we skipped breakfast.
Lived with a housemate and one day while gf was riding me he storm into our room randomly and gf quickly lie down and pretending to be sleeping 😛
Actually on the night of my 21st,i was in the act when my best friend showed up without warning and tapped on the window of my room to let me know I had company, the thing is my curtains were not closed and there was enough light to see what’s going on. Lol, but it certainly was not an awkward moment once the alcohol was being drunk
“Actually, he’s been the one taking it.”
Get locks on your doors you bunch of amateurs!
If you’re renting you can’t usually do this eh
