Day 3 of nominations for the Kotaku Awards 2014 and it’s time to nominate your favourite Australian games of this year. To be honest, you’re all a bit spoiled for choice in this category I reckon.
I’d go as far to say that 2014 has been as good a year for Australian games development as I’ve ever seen since I’ve been here. The great thing? It’s just the beginning. 2015 is looking just as stacked as 2014 was and I can’t wait to see what comes of it.
But let’s focus on 2014. Here are some of my own nominations…
Framed
Crossy Road
Bonza
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Alright now it’s your turn! Drop your nominations in the comments below.

Australian made games*
my honest mistake, totally slipped
Yeah I was going to write down trials as my game of year, thwn realised it wasn’t made in Australia. But still, it’s my GOTY.
How awful am I, I literally don’t even know if any of the games I’ve played this year have been Australian 🙁
Borderlands. How is this a competition? 😛
The only remaining Australian AAA studio against indie developers
yeh talk about unfair fight. but hey, still deserves it.
Don’t think I’ve played any Aussie games this year (But did pick up L.A Noir the other day for cheap and was amazed with the facial expressions). Having said that from what I’ve seen of Borderlands it would have to get my vote just for the obnoxious Aussie accents. Honourable mention to Framed for being the only indie game I’ve taken an interest in and for being praised by Kojima.
Does stuff like Crawl count, where it’s released but not final yet?
Can’t remember if Screencheat was like that or it’s got proper release now.
Gems Of War
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
100% Framed for sure.

I loved Borderlands, but framed is a totally new idea, that actually comes off. My GOTY Australian or otherwise.
Check it out if you haven’t already.
Borderlands: TPS cover sheet gets my nomination too, and Framed because Kojima said it’s already the (his) Game of the Year.
Bonza or One More Line
Bonza!
I don’t think the australian made games that I have been following are offically out yet, where does GOTY nominations sit with early access / beta access
Armello, satellite reign and hand of fate are all playable but not officially launched as far as I can tell.
Yeah, I agree. Also Crawl is super cool. But We’ll leave those till next year.
Another crossy road nomination? Wow.
DUET!!!
Bonza is a close second
Valiant Hearts
