Relive Early ’90s Gaming With This Cinemaware Anthology

So, for around $10, you can get yourself a heck of a lot of Far Cry. Or, for a few bucks less, you can grab 13 games that are… slightly older than Ubisoft’s FPS series. OK… much, much older. But these are classics people! Classics!

The name “Cinemaware” might not have the same pull as it did 20 years ago, but for those who remember fondly the likes of Defender of the Crown, It Came From the Desert and Wings!, you can now pick up these and several other games from the developer via the aptly-named “Cinemaware Anthology: 1986-1991”.

On Steam for $US8.49 — discounted from $US9.99 as a launch deal, the pack contains the following titles:

  • Defender of the Crown
  • SDI
  • The King of Chicago
  • Sindbad and the Throne of the Falcon
  • Lords of the Rising Sun
  • Rocket Ranger*
  • It Came From the Desert
  • It Came From the Desert II: Antheads
  • Wings!
  • TV Sports: Football
  • TV Sports: Basketball
  • TV Sports: Baseball
  • TV Sports: Boxing

According to the Steam page, all games are compatible with Windows 7 and 8. You can also choose to play the DOS or Amiga versions (for games that were released on both platforms).

I think a few of these won’t have aged well, but it’s nice to know the option is there to see what has stood the test of time.
