The 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 looks spectacular. I’d certainly like to have one, but some people want one bad. So much so they’re apparently willing to part with large amounts of cash for the limited edition hardware.
GameSpot reports that the console, which is limited to only 12,300 units worldwide, sold out within minutes of going on sale on Sony’s online store.
On eBay, numerous resellers are auctioning off “confirmed preorders” for the console. Right now, all these resellers have to show are their email confirmations for the console, yet as noted on Inside, some of them are asking as much as $10,000.
In one auction, the 20th Anniversary PS4 apparently went for over $15,000. According to CNET, another one apparently sold one for over $20,000. There are two words for that: totally insane.
Especially because today, Sony is selling the console at a bargain basement price of £19.94 ($37) in London.

Lets see how many of those 20K bids are actually paid first 😉
Maybe the bidders are in a situation like the movie “Brewster’s Millions”, maybe they have to spend millions of dollars but have nothing to show for it at the end. Although they would have a sweet looking PS4 i suppose
There should be some sort of t&c when buying stuff like this to prevent you from reselling immediately.
It just sucks for everyone else out there who genuinely want to collect and own it.
Personally I think it looks horrible. That grey is so drab and uninspiring. If the colour and design was so great, why didn’t they continue it.
I wouldn’t say ‘horrible’ but I don’t think it’s particularly inspired. I like the controller better than the actual box though.
wait so how do we actually buy these from Sony? i havent seen any marketting or a single one in stores lol.
Pretty sure it was only for sale in their online store :/
wow that’s pretty lame. oh well. was contemplating getting a PS4 if these ones were actually available. what a shame.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to pull it apart and spray the case in the colours of the 20th Anniversary edition? Even if you screwed it up and managed to ruin 10-15 consoles, you’d still be ahead. Haha.
Actually, this gives me an idea. Excuse me while I go to the hardware store…
It’s only available in US, EU, Japan and selected Asian countries. AU did not get any allocation.
If Sony were smart, they would make a special edition bundle that comes with an LE controller and faceplate for your PS4 to commemorate 20 years in a more accessible way.
It just looks like my fridge…
Clean your fridge! Shouldn’t it be pristine white?
