Becoming A Champion With The Worst* Pokémon In ORAS

Becoming a Champion with the Worst* Pokémon in ORAS

Magikarp is sad. Pathetic. He sucks. Yet, one brave gamer apparently became a Poké champ with what is largely considered to be the worst Pocket Monster around.

Wielding a shiny Magikarp, Twitter user Nakano Official defeated the Elite Four in Pokémon ORAS before taking down the champion to be crowned champ himself.

Nakano Official live-tweeted photos of the last few encounters, but below you can see images from his battle with Metagross.

These particular photos have been retweeted nearly twenty thousand times!

Apparently, Nakano Official became a champ sans cheats and uploaded these images as proof:

We've seen Magikarp go the distance before, so it can be done!

Note that in Japanese Magikarp is called "Koikingu" (コイキング), or "king of the carp". Nakano Official humorously named his Level 83 Pokémon "Bangohan" (ばんごはん), which means "dinner".

*Stats-wise, the worst Pocket Monster in ORAS is actually Sunkern, but that that Pokémon doesn't have the same sad and pathetic stigma.

    Magikarp uses SPLASH.

    IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

But but but, if that Magikarp lays 100 eggs, and those 100 also lay 100 eggs, then you have 10,001Magikarp! Not only will you become a rich Magikarp mogul, but you'll have an unstoppable army!!

Only thing you need to do this is Time and a whole lot of items.

Or you design a special team of baton passers to buff and then switch to magikarp. (release all your other pokes before you verse the champ..?)

    But good for him.

Without video proof, I don't buy it. A lot of these pics taken individually can be quite misleading. The champ medal only means he was there, the solo magikarp on the congrats screen can be attributed to a 2-3 mon team and catching the slow pan at the right time. A simple photoshop job can remove the pokeballs from the battle shots against Mgross.

well from the screenshot the move it had was struggle not splash

I think it's lame that it only has Flail. Why no Bounce?

It has just Flail so it reaches Struggle faster
