Mionix, makes of fine PC gaming mice, are working on something new. And it falls somewhere between a gaming mouse and… Nintendo’s Vitality Sensor.
It’s called the NAOS QG, and is intended to be the first entry in a line of peripherals known as “Quantified Gaming”. The idea being that by embedding sensors in the surface of the mouse, it will be able to track your heart rate, galvanic skin response and APM (actions per minute).
This kind of thing might not be for everyone, but for pro gamers, it sounds like a pretty cool idea, as it would allow them to track their “performance” and stats (and share them) like an athlete would on the track or field.
Mionix is running a Kickstarter to get the NAOS QG off the ground. Which sounds a little weird seeing as they’re a proper company, but a company rep told me that because they “are still are more or less a startup”, Mionix didn’t have the capital to pay for the new tooling and manufacturing costs needed for the product.

Well I don’t really care about the new sensors, but the early bird pricing they have up is a bloody good deal and it will have the specs of the naos 7000, so I backed it.
I have a Mionix Naos 8200. Best mouse I have ever used!
Swear by it!
Also have the Mionix keyboard (rock solid) and the Mionix aluminium mouse pad (silky smooth). Im a total Mionix convert!
But for me the problem with this Mionix QG mouse is my hand never touches the mouse. Its all finger tips. The palm of my hand doesnt touch the mouse at all.
F*** Razor. Every (and I mean every) razor product I have bought has broken/failed within a month. Razor is garbage!

I’m rocking the Microsoft SideWinder X8, and I’ve been meaning to upgrade to something new.
Though the part you said this concerns me.
I’m use to the sidewinder, full palm rest on the back and my fingers still sit nicely on the click buttons. I hope this one will be roughly the same. I have average size hands too.
I have fairly regular to large hands and I find the Naos mice to be extremely comfy with room to move. They are about the same size as any other regular ergo mouse so if you’re used to one already it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
I just looked up the X8 and it has the same design as my older sidewinder so if you’re anything like me the change to the Naos will be a huge blessing.
Ah awesome! Early bird it is then. Thanks 🙂
That’s unlucky – I’ve been using the razer imperator for about 2 years – it’s solid as a rock, haven’t had a single problem with it. I had the deathadder before that for about 6 months (switched as the imperator’s slightly smaller in the hand), gave the deathadder it to my brother when i upgraded, and he’s had the same experience – no problems, solid as a rock
Sweet! Thank you for bringing this up, I was looking for a new cool mouse.
Heart rate on a mouse, for FSP or Porn?
Sorry just had too!!!!!!!!!!.
Why do they have a screen capture of halo on it?
I have never supported anything through KickStarter before, but I just did for this.
Mionix peripherals are amazing! I trust them completely.
I don’t know. 89 dollars for a simple wired gaming mouse plus three little sensors is a lot.
I’ll admit i would be curious to see my biometrics while i’m playing, but I can’t really see myself spending any money on a feature like that.
That mouse does look damn comfortable though
