Earlier this month, the PlayStation Experience expo in Las Vegas had a few interesting games on show that’ll touch down in 2015, and one of them was Jonathan Blow’s highly anticipated The Witness. Some spoiler-free early gameplay was recorded for your viewing pleasure.
I’ve actually been avoiding The Witness coverage for a while, purely because I’m looking forward to it so much. But lately, there hasn’t been too much noise about it, leading me to wonder just what the hell is happening. Add onto that Blow’s new massive project to make a new coding language for games, and I had doubt about where dev hours were going.
So when The Witness was on show at PlayStation Experience, and I came across the below video, I couldn’t help myself. I had a little peak. It gives you a pretty good idea of what the gameplay will be like — in fact, it’s probably selling itself a bit short. It might not seem like it, but there’s a lot you can do with puzzle mechanics in that format.
As for when it’s coming out? According to Blow, “Not that late in 2015, hopefully.”
Yikes. You’re killing me here, Blow.

Just finished Antichamber (finally!), and this looks like it’ll fill the FPS puzzler hole in my heart
This better hurry up and come out! My PS4 needs some loving.
This is the sort of game I’ll buy, without actually ever intending to finish. If I do then that’s all well and good; but sometimes, just having something to go back to and bash your head up against for a bit can be, despite the contradiction in terms … relaxing.
If it’s as non-linear as he says it seems as if there’ll always be something else to do while your brain ponders on a solution for a more obscure or difficult puzzle elsewhere. No deaths either so there’s no pressure to progress.
I’m liking the look of this one.
