Pornhub has released it’s ‘Year In Review‘, a comprehensive series of statistics on porn usage. It’s incredible. It also tells us which gamers are using their consoles to access porn and which console users are more likely to watch porn on their consoles?
It turns out that Xbox users are number one. 45.7% of all porn traffic accessed through consoles on Pornhub comes via Xbox home consoles — most likely a combination of Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Coming in a close second with 40% is PlayStation.
But interestingly, porn usage on PlayStation consoles has suffered a massive drop compared to 2013. Whereas the Xbox and Nintendo Wii users increased their porn traffic by 70.5% and 69.6% respectively, PlayStation home consoles dropped off by 36.8%. Very strange.
Reasons why? It’s difficult to say. The ease of Twitch streaming could be a factor, as could the fact that Facebook accounts are usually linked to user accounts. I’m grasping at straws here, but the reality is it could be a data issue — perhaps the PlayStation is making it difficult to record this kind of data. Either way, I find it hard to believe that PlayStation users would suffer such a dramatic drop in porn usage when other home consoles are — and this is probably the wrong word — surging.

Last but not least we’re getting gamers covered in regards to the consoles they use to lvl up on Pornhub. Playstation and Xbox are the undeniable heavy hitters here, claiming 40% and 45.7% of traffic respectively – though Playstation’s traffic shares are down 36.8% from last year. Nintendo Wii, on the other hand, saw a 69.9% traffic share increase over the course of the year and now accounts for a respectable 8.2% of all console user traffic. It’s easy to make jokes here, but some of these statistics are fascinating. According to Pornhub, Australians are the sixth highest consumers of internet porn per capita. Their most used search term is ‘Lesbian’ and their favourite Pornstar is — hilariously — Kim Kardashian. People are more likely to watch porn on a Monday and least likely to watch porn on a Friday. In Australia the gender split in porn usage is 18%-82% in favour of the men — of course. Interestingly, I think this is the first year where mobile porn usage outstripped desktop porn usage. The times they are a changing.

Am I the only person who doesn’t see the point in porn on consoles? I mean, you have to navigate with a controller, and there’s a good chance your PC/laptop is currently turned on.
Teenagers are more likely to have a console in their room than a PC/laptop? Plus they’re less likely to have monitoring/blocking software and their parents noticing the browser history.
Maybe it’s about the size of the TV screen… y’know, really lets you get up good and close to see all that caked-on make-up over the zits and ass-warts.

These numbers would mean that last year, PlayStation was around 63% of traffic, and Xbox 27%. That same change could also be attributed to the Xbox traffic increasing about 2.5x without any change to PlayStation traffic.
I’d normally say with anything statistics related that it’s better to see the raw numbers that the interpretations are based on, but yeah, not following any links for this one while I’m at work.
yeah that was my thought. there’s also no other stats for comparison to other platforms. i mean, who’s browsing porn on their consoles, Wii/Vita/3DS especially!
Console traffic would be 0.01% when compared to total traffic share/volume. without following the link my instinct is that hits/GB per day would be so small that a 70% increase or 36% decrease is easy to comprehend.
Heh, maybe I should open the link to the (potentially) more detailed stats on my Wii U at home since it seems under-represented.
Could make for an … interesting conversation at home too.

A gameconsole is for playing games. If I want to see porn, I’ll use my cellphone/tablet/PC 😀 At least you can install an antivirus there.
I do have to say that pornhub has the best support for the consoles compared to other porn tube sites, when I did a test.
Anyways, I hope they’ll switch to full high definition for all their videos this year. Really getting sick of all those garbage resolution vids.
