Ch-ch-ch-changes! Nothing stays the same — people, places and manga characters, included. Let’s see how the likes of One Piece have evolved over the years.
The appearance of characters changing is not new, nor is it unique to One Piece. Previously, Kotaku showed how an array of manga characters had evolved over the years.
Now, via Japanese web forum 2ch, we’re zeroing in on the incredibly popular One Piece. Some of the characters have changed significantly. Some haven’t. Have a look for yourself.
If anything, I’d say One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has simply perfected how he draws his characters.
Well, do you prefer to the “before” or “after” versions?

Is this article a joke? I ask because a lot of the after photos are after a time-skip so they were meant to be drawn differently.
None of them are after the time skip
there are very clear visual differences with time skip OP characters. The only ones im not 100% on are brooke and nami
None of them changed all that much pre-timeskip, but Oda did refine the character drawings a little over time. After the time skip is where you see big differences, but that’s only natural.
Yeah if they wanted to showcase differences, they should have used the newest versions of the characters after the 2-year skip. Besides, full-bodied pictures would have showed many more changes (Nami has grown like 10 cups and her waist has narrowed impossibly, for example.) Also, where’s Franky?
all shonen manga devolves into Angry faces and Dramatic poses. That’s why I usually stick to Seinen
