I love The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, but I’ll admit the game’s not perfect. Nintendo knows this too. It’s why the 3DS version is getting more than new visuals. Gyorg, who lords over the water-themed third dungeon, used to be a tough but boring boss fight. That’s changed.
Defeating Gyorg required little more than standing on the central platform and whipping a boomerang around over and over again to stun the beast. Easier said than done though. Gyorg had several attacks designed to knock you off the arena’s centre platform. If you fell into the water, Gyorg was able to quickly swallow you up and drain your health.
To be honest, the camera was probably the biggest problem, which is why some people consider Gyorg one of the game’s toughest battles too.
Boss battles in a Zelda game are supposed to be grand, impressive, and intricate. Solve the dungeon, fight the boss. It’s part of Zelda‘s DNA. So it’s interesting to see Nintendo going above and beyond for the 3DS update. For example, the second half of the fight submerges the player.
Makes you wonder what else Nintendo has changed. Hmm. Can’t wait to find out next month!

Romani milk + Zora energy shield = easy boss fight.
I always just jumped in the water and did the fight. You take unavoidable damage but it’s nothing a fairy can’t help with.
Wait, this was a Hard Boss Fight? Seasons have the hard boss fights.
Not hard, but it could be tedious at times.
Actually really happy about this. Gyorg was not a fun fight at all and it’s good to see Nintendo willing to improve what was flawed. At least now the battle seems to have a few more dimensions to it.
It wasn’t broken, therefore there was no need to fix it. I’d rather play the game in its original glory.
