My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

While each Final Fantasy tends to be set in a different world, there are a few staples you can expect in each one — most prominently, a character named Cid. And the newest game in the franchise, Final Fantasy Explorers, is no exception.

Over the years Cid has gone through some changes since his first appearance back in Final Fantasy II. Cid has been old and young, hero and villain, and even male and female. Here’s a collection of Cid character designs from the main series so you can see for yourself.

(Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV)

(Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII)

(Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X)

(Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII)

(Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XV)

Naturally, characters with the Cid name appear in far more Final Fantasy games than just Final Fantasy II through XV.

(Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift)

(Chocobo’s Dungeon Series, Final Fantasy Fables Series)

(Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers)

(Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Final Fantasy: Unlimited)

(Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, Final Fantasy Dimensions)

(Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Final Fantasy Explorers)

Sometimes the Cids above have made appearances in other games ranging from their various numbered game sequels to crossover games like Kingdom Hearts and Theatrhythm. But for all those pictures, I suggest you check out each individual Cid’s page over at the Final Fantasy Wiki.

Oh, and if you liked seeing the evolution of Cid over the years, check out the evolution of the cast of the Zelda series.
