My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

While each Final Fantasy tends to be set in a different world, there are a few staples you can expect in each one — most prominently, a character named Cid. And the newest game in the franchise, Final Fantasy Explorers, is no exception.

Over the years Cid has gone through some changes since his first appearance back in Final Fantasy II. Cid has been old and young, hero and villain, and even male and female. Here's a collection of Cid character designs from the main series so you can see for yourself.

My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

(Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV)

My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

(Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII)

(Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X)

My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

(Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII)

My, My Cid, How You Have Changed

(Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XV)

Naturally, characters with the Cid name appear in far more Final Fantasy games than just Final Fantasy II through XV.

Sometimes the Cids above have made appearances in other games ranging from their various numbered game sequels to crossover games like Kingdom Hearts and Theatrhythm. But for all those pictures, I suggest you check out each individual Cid's page over at the Final Fantasy Wiki.

Oh, and if you liked seeing the evolution of Cid over the years, check out the evolution of the cast of the Zelda series.

Every Cid without facial heart is a slap to the face. It was one of my gripes with FFVII back in the day. Also, did we ever get to see Cid in human form in IX? I don't remember this character design at all.

We did, yes. Not until Disc 3 though, I think...

    VII is the true Cid.

VII is the true Final Fantasy.

    FFVII Cid is best Cid.

Do Biggs and Wedge next. :)

I miss Biggs and Wedge, haven't seemed to be around much recently

        They're avoiding you.

Yeah, now that you mention it I don't believe I've noticed them in a Final Fantasy since FFX/X-2. Haven't played the online ones too much though.

They're in FFXIV. They play a semi-important role in two different storyline's (with Cid).

Biggs is the tall fella' (I know, roll eyes now), Wedge is the tiny guy: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130827213009/finalfantasy/images/d/dc/Biggs_and_Wedge_XIV.jpg

Naw, FFT Thunder God Cidolfus Orlandeau is best Cid.

Man, Cid has some pretty sweet cleavage.
