Let’s talk movies! What are you looking forward to in 2015?
The big one for me — to be predictable — is Star War: Episode VII. Silly lightsaber aside, I really loved the tone of the trailer and I expect JJ Abrams to knock it out of the park. He’s hardly put a step wrong as a director, and of everyone working today, I can’t think of anyone more qualified to nail that 70s/80s fast-paced Spielberg style. I’ve always wanted to see a Star Wars directed by Spielberg and I think this is the closest we’ll ever get.
I’m also super keen for Chappie. I didn’t like Elysium, but District 9 is one of my favourite science-fiction movies of all time. Plenty of people seem to be criticising early footage of this movie, but I’ve loved what I’ve seen so far.
Marvel movies? I’m done with them I think. I didn’t even like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Just behind the new Star Wars movie is Mad Max: Fury Road. Early trailers for this one have been nothing short of spectacular. Early buzz from this movie is hugely positive. I think it could be a new benchmark for action. Super keen.
What are you guys and girls looking forward to in 2015?

Max Max for me. That Comic-con trailer has me sold. I go to the cinemas maybe twice a year. This will definitely account for one of those trips.
Has North Korea official approved it for release?
I am most looking forward too Spectre, I love the James Bond films.
Oh yeah, great cast.
Birdman.
Looks great!
Saw it in the US, it’s really, really good.
If you are the type to watch things online, there are DVD quality copies all over the internet. Not that I’d ever do that…
Either way, I thought it was average.
I’m not the type to watch anything on my computer. Too busy using it for other things.
Same. Play it on the big screen in the lounge room instead.
Avengers, birdman and Foxcatcher. I’m also interested in the fantastic four movie, not because I want to see it, but what kind mess that film is, it seems like Fox is trying to bury that movie.
Ex Machina:
To put it back on topic, the Hitman film is due at the end of August.
I’ve gotta be honest, I have zero expectations for Hitman. It was a pretty mediocre film even with someone as badass as Timothy Olyphant. I don’t expect much from the no-namer that replaced him with.
Entourage! Can not wait, t.v series was awesome!! So I’m expecting big things from the movie
Hell yes.
Sex and the city for dudes. I have enjoyed watching it but I ended up hating every single character. Except Ari.
Jurassic World, Star Wars & Avengers.
I’m very sad to say, Terminator looks shit D:
I thought the new Terminator looked awesome.
1. It’s set in the 80’s.
2. I’ve never seen a T-1000 cut off his own arm to use as a weapon, and I’ve never seen a T-800 spear-tackle a helicopter, so I’m excited about the pumped up action.
3. The trailer doesn’t reveal the entire storyline unlike certain other trailers, so I’m left intrigued.
It just had all this explanation for shit that was more interesting left vague.
It looks like a mash-up of the best story bits from 1&2 but all actiony without any slowing.
Yes, T2 is an action flick, but it knew when to slow-down.
I’ll watch it, but I expect another T3 or worse, Salvation. 🙁
Yup, those three.
And Hook…
The big one I’m looking forward to is book of life, it looks super rad and I really want to support it. Other than that, burdman, antman, kingsmen: the secret service, what we do in the shadows and the new fantastic four movie are all ones I’m interested in
What We Do in the Shadows? Didn’t that already get a DVD release?
Yes, I rented it from Civic and watched it last weekend.
It was fantastic.
could be, I remember being hype for it back in september and then never saw anything about a release. I’ll have to look into it
Yeah I’m pretty sure it got a limited release around that time and also appeared at the Gold Coast Film Festival back in April. It’s also something on my “to watch” list and I’ve been meaning to pick it up for a while now.
Inherent Vice looks great. Adapted from a book by Thomas Pynchon, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (one of my favourites), scored by Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, and starring Joaquin Phoenix. What could go wrong?
Never heard of this. Added to The List ©
I’m looking forward to Jupiter Ascending the most, but also The Book of Life and Star Wars. It’s a strange world we live in when one of my most anticipated movies has Channing Tatum as the lead actor.
Stranger than you think. Channing Tatum is the lead in two of the three movies you’re excited for.
I thought he was just in a supporting role in The Book of Life (haven’t paid much attention to who is actually the main character), but there you go!
I’ve got a movie voucher ready for Mad Max
The Hateful Eight (Tarantino!)
Hail, Caesar! (Coens!)
Inside Out
The Avengers – Age Of Ultron
Inherent VIce
Tomorrowland
Ted 2
Peanuts
I’ll also throw in Star Wars here, just in the hope that it can wash away the taste of the prequel trilogy, but my expectations are not high.
Cool, didn’t know both Tarantino and the Coens has new ones comin out, gonna have to check it.
Definitely all the big guns have me excited – Avengers, SW, Mad Max and even Terminator.
I have a feeling Chappie will be a return to D9 quality too. I think the early footage is a deliberate misdirection attempt to hide where the movie will really go, like D9 did (prawn gun testing scene anyone??)
And how can you not like Gaurdians Mark?? Wash your mouth out with soap.
A lot.
Birdman, Inherent Vice, Foxcatcher, Knight of Cups, Avengers, Mad Max, Jurassic World, Inside Out, Ant-Man, The Good Dinosaur, The Martian, Star Wars.
How has no one mentioned Furious 7 or Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2!?
But seriously, In the Heart of the Sea looks pretty good, a much darker take on the Moby Dick backstory.
Also saw the trailer for Inside Out this weekend, and it looks like a typically fantastic Pixar movie. I also have unrealistically high expectations for Pixels, which is going to be amazing (oh please let it be good)
You know that Adam Sandler stars in Pixels, right?
BUT… but…
Maybe he has been taking acting lessons?
Oh wow, I forgot about Furious 7.
Now my list is two.
Mad Max, Star Wars… Haven’t really looked too far into what’s being released.
I watched Whiplash last night. Incredible. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. As a very amateur drummer I was mesmerized, and I’ve always been a fan of J.K. Simmons since Oz.
Ant-Man
Avengers 2
Inside Out
Jurassic World
Minions
Chappie
Terminator Genisys
American Sniper
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Tomorrowland (Hugh Laurie!)
and some minor indie film called Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens! 😛
Mad Max
Unlucky Stars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD6daW1m28o)
Skin Trade
The Dead Lands (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKy7Q50tJ84)
Avengers and Star Wars
Yes folks, Star Wars is out this year!
(Sighs)
You people never learn, do you?
What if I told you people could still be excited for Episode VII but instead of using blind faith and following the hype train people are remaining cautiously optimistic?
I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Nope!

Wait, there’s a Zachariah movie coming? Why does nobody tell me these things?

Paperplanes tho
AVENGERS, ant man, star wars, jurassic world, kingsman ss, fast 6
