Of course Kitana is going to be in Mortal Kombat X. You try telling the adopted daughter of Shao Kahn to stay home and watch Gilmore Girls.
Kitana, named because one of her parents must have seen a katana somewhere, has been a fixture of the fighting game series since Mortal Kombat II, when Midway realised they only had one female character and decided to fix that by adding one more and changing her colours twice. She’s armed here with her signature bladed fans, which no doubt will be used one day as the name for some other alien princess.
Kitana makes her Mortal Kombat X gameplay debut alongside Kung Lao, the man with the spinny hat we already knew about. I’m guessing us already knowing about it is why we’ve got two character reveals today instead of one.
Mortal Kombat X arrives on Xboxes, PlayStations 3 and 4 and PC on April 14.

What’s wrong with Gilmore Girls ?
It’s hard to fight someone to the death when you’re busy trying to watch it as well.
It’s a tough call, but if I have to choose between a duel to the death and Gilmore Girls, I’m probably going to go watch Gilmore Girls… again.
I am excited for this. Very excited. Absolutely loved MK9
To be fair there are like 5 male characters who were originally constant pallet swaps so its not like they were lazy for misogynistic reasons, just lazy in general
8 eventually: Scorpion, Sub-zero, Reptile, Human Smoke, Ermac, Rain, Noob Saibot and Chameleon.
But to be fair there was 4 female ninja palette swaps as well: Kitana, Mileena, Jade and Khameleon.
Then you had the Cyborgs: Sektor, Cyrax and Cyborg Smoke.
Yeah, they really did love their palette swaps in the 2D games.
FFS.. Why must I preorder to get a character that should already be included in the standard game? Getting sick of this shit..
I believe Goro is in the game, but he may just not be playable without some kind of pre-order code. Hopefully it’s only a timed thing and there’s a way to unlock him without the code.
So at first I was like “so is this Kitana’s daughter or something? because if this is set that far in the future after MK9 then how damn old is she meant to be?”. Then i realised she’s half demon…or full demon, shit, I don’t know, but that justifies it enough I guess.
She also
died in MK9 (along with half the characters), but I guess it didn’t take.pfft, continuity shmontinuity!
