The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for 3DS is almost here, which means the hype train is in overdrive, and Nintendo’s doing everything it can to get people interested in Link’s revamped adventure. The company’s throwing an art competition on the Miiverse, kicked off by series producer Eiji Aonuma himself, and it’s resulted in some truly incredible submissions by fans.
The competition is still ongoing, actually. Aonuma asked folks to download Art Academy: Sketch Pad, theme their creations around Majora’s Mask, and submit all pieces by March 1.
Things got off to a bumpy start, though.
Well…
Fortunately, people seemed to figure out how to download Art Academy: Sketch Pad, and it quickly becomes apparent how much talent’s hiding within Nintendo’s most fervent fanbases.
I wouldn’t mind if some of these were made available as proper wallpapers for my computer!
Here’s a sampling of my favourites:
I’ve saved one image for last though. Warning: this art might give you nightmares.
There’s much more where this came from in the Miiverse thread. Enjoy!

And here I am with my miiverse stick figures…
Whoa that last one way too creepy
The stencil glass one is technically awesome, but his little smug smile there rubs me the wrong way. Majora’s Mask is an extremely depressing story. There was not a moment in it for Link to be happy until the very end, which barely restored the status quo to the sad, bleak state left after the ending of Ocarina of Time.
