This must be one of the flattest Minecraft worlds out there, but that’s how you remake a classic browser game.
As Chajben’s one-man project shows, the 2007 version of RuneScape — the free MMO we probably all encountered before one way or another — and is relatively small, making it possible to rebuild it block by block and make us a bit nostalgic.
He even remade a few mini quests and NPC’s using command blocks, so it probably wouldn’t be impossible to slowly remake the game entirely.
Here are some highlights from a big gallery, shared by the map’s creator.

With all the new technology and graphics in games I don’t think I have every had the sense of amazement like I did when I first played Runescape classic. First time I ever played Wow was probably the closest but nothing ever since.
Man I get this everytime!
Nothing can compare to the experience I had with Runescape back when it was good (The Zezima era :P) No other mmo can fill that gap!
Just thinking back when I would log on after school and see my other friends logging on.
Making pure pkers
grinding on cow hides etc…
the clans
Sneaking the home phone into my room so I could purchase Runescape membership, parents caught on eventually and blocked the number lol.
Ahhh those were the days.
Legit yeah dude everything you said I remember, must have spent so many hours killing virtual cows.. I even remember the first rune sword I ever got and it was like I was king of the internet.. then I found out you could get a 2H Rune sword!
Eh, he says within the album that it’s “to scale”, but really, it’s 0.5:1. It’s half what it should be. 1 RuneScape tile should be a 2×2 Minecraft area.
At the moment, there are two projects recreating the world with better accuracy:
07craft, my own http://yogs.wizardcm.com:8123/?worldname=474&mapname=surface (we used an actual RuneScape cache to generate the entire landscape)
Nick and Matt Minecraft http://www.thanorpheus-projects.com/ (they’ve been working since 2013)
