Or ‘remastered’. Either is fine.
It seems as though I’ve spent most of this year playing ‘old’ video games. Metroid Prime on the Wii U, Grim Fandango on the PS Vita. Yesterday I spent a fair amount of time playing Dark Souls II on the PS4. That got me thinking: I’d love to see a HD remaster of Demons Souls. What games would you like to see remade/remastered?
The way I see it there are certain games that ‘suit’ being remade. Cult classics that many ignored first time round — like Demons Souls — or games that were almost there, but technical issues let them down. Those are the types of games I’d like to play again, on newer technology. I thought Majora’s Mask was a perfect game for a remake, for example.
It probably doesn’t make any financial sense, but I’d like to see Jet Force Gemini remade, I’d like to see an updated version of Fate of Atlantis. I’d love to see a HD version of Super Mario Sunshine.
How about you?

Digimon World.
Secret of Mana, Chrono trigger, Secret of Evermore, Uni-Rally. The list is much longer than that but it’s a start.
dino crisis 1 and 2, tony hawks 1 and 2, twisted metal 1 and 2, mass effect 1-3, resident evil 2 and nemesis, overboard! and time crisis 1.
The majority of levels from Tony Hawk 1 + 2 were remade in 2012 as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.
They also added a few levels from 3 as DLC a bit later.
But no offline multiplayer, which suuuuucks.
Yeah, no offline multiplayer put me off before it was even released.
Yup, but the physics and the handling sucked a big one. Unresponsive and clumsy compared to the flawless controls of the original(s).
Dragon Age Origins, with enhanced combat, improved functions, removed glitches and crisp graphics. Unbeatable.
Grim FandangoHang on…Full Throttle, not as a 3D game but as HD animation would be sweet. Still sounds great, but it’s a bit pixelly.
I’d also love a remaster or director’s cut of XIII
Yisssssss.
Whoa, deja vu…
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/01/tell-us-dammit-games-you-want-remade/
both from Mark too lol
This is the ReMastered version though 🙂
Wait until the DLC drops.
What would Mark Serrels DLC look like?
I guess Scottish voice pack?
No no, this is the Definitive Remastered True Ultimate Final GOTY Edition.
Careful or the ‘With Knuckles’ gag will be for real.
That was only 3 weeks ago as well!
Full Throttle. It would be really good as an iOS game. I was watching play through videos the other night and godddd it’s so good.
One Lucasarts game I never finished. Always thought I only just started it but @dc told me I was nearly at the end. Which jeez, it was short. Quality though.
Yeah, it wasn’t long at all, but god, it was SO good. I played that game almost every weekend for like, six months when I was a kid. First DOS computer and it came preinstalled 😀
Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid 1.
Moar Wonderboy pl0x
Oh man, this is what I say on saggy page 2
Timesplitters so we can play online multi.
Yesssssssssss
TS 2&3 as a single HD repack with all the crazy MP intact
TS3 is so, so, soooooooooooooooooooooo good.
It was the reason I bought and was subsequently disappointed by the PS2 LAN adapter.
My brother and I used to splitscreen the shit out of all 3 games in that series.
He was devastated when The Impersonator got cut from 3.
I’m always glad someone says Timesplitters :’)
This is one trilogy that I hoped at least had the HD collection onto the PS3… maybe the PS4 will be luckier.
Blast Corps. It’s a brilliant game for showcasing what next-gen hardware can do.
Obligatory Final Fantasy 7
&
Legend of Dragoon would be a perfect candidate for a remake!
If we are talking technical issues, then yes I’d love to see a PS4 version of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and Skyrim
I never finished Skyrim and would love to 🙂
Shenmue 1 & 2. Original Deus Ex.
Shenmue!
Deus Ex would have to be totally remade like Abe’s Oddysee was, re-recorded voice acting and all. One of my favourite games ever but the VA in that game is horrendous….
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS4)
Dark Souls: Prepare To Die (PS4)
i would love to play those games remastered although i have and xbox one and originally played them on xbox 360
Oh my, a remake of Fate of Atlantis… hold me Serrels.
Shadow Hearts trilogy, because the world could use more Shadow Hearts.
FF7 and 8
Red Dead Redemption
[It doesn’t *need* one. It’s just my PS3 died and it’s the one game I REALLY wish I could play on my PS4]
So good. Nearly the perfect game.
God i wish they released RDR on pc.
Amen to that! There are rumors of a sequil with current gen consoles AND PC… If true happy!
Final Fantasy VI in a 3D engine.
Jones in the Fast Lane.
and Aladdin (the not-SNES, not-Capcom one)
Yes VI & V too!
Necromancer and M.U.L.E from the Atari 800, and a proper remake of Starglider and Carrier Command from the Atari ST days.
Rescue on Fractulus would be cool too!
Bf1942, bf2, star wars jedi knight series, KOTOR, MOH allied assault, call of duty united offensive
They did a Kotor remake already didn’t they?
Nope
Tablet version
GTA vice city. It had the best city and characters IMO (though that’s probably just because it’s a blatant scarface ripoff).
Descent, that old fighter FPS (yes I’ve had this handle since then).
And lastly, streets of rage. Although really I just want a side scroller beat em up like that. Anyone know any that are good other than crashers?
Descent is on my list… in fact, I had it as my number 1 game to be remade/remastered the last time Mark asked this question.
Apparently some ex-devs from Star Citizen are working on a Descent-style game, working title is (hold on to your hats)… Ships that Fight Underground.
I want an updated Final Lap Twin. The world needs another RPG RC racing game!
I would also like the see Crystalis from the NES remade.
MW2. There I said it.
Also, a new Jet Set Radio could be fun.
Ooh ooh Point Blank!
Nice, did you play the DS version, supringly fun with a stylus.
Oh god yes. So much time on the road as a directionless and angry young man, Point Blank was my jam. Most bars and places only had pool at best, (and I ended up a monster at that… which I have COMPLETELY forgotten and now suck shit at), but I would drive a town or two out of my way for my evening if I knew I could find some light-gun cabinets.
I generally preferred Virtua Cop, House of the Dead, Time Crisis, Silent Scope series, (even Mad Dog McCree if you could find it) for, y’know… the cathartic violence.
And it was cartoony and goofy and lacking in blood and gore, but Point Blank was just so tight. No unfair bullshit to spice things up, just you and a dodgily-calibrated beat-to-shit truck-stop lightgun.
I used to load those machines up with tonnes of my wage so I could dual-wield my guns and spam my CAM tag on high score boards all over the country. Hard as balls. Great times.
I really need to look into buying one of those cabinets… it’d be an AMAZING arm-strengthening exercise. (Oh god I was always so sore.)
Three words… Rogue Squadron Trilogy
Battle for Naboo would be so good. I spent hours on that as a kid
Pretty sure this question had been asked before, and I’ll give the same answer.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
In fact, the entire Legacy of Kain series would be great, but that first game in particular is in dire need of it as it doesn’t even run on modern PC’s without some hacky workarounds.
I’d never played the Legacy of Kain games before but just last month played through Blood Omen and had a great time =) I now have finished Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2 and am starting Blood Omen 2 soon. such a great series =)
“Vae Victis!”
All the bad ones. Remake them to be good.
Big Rigs: Off The Road Racing Remastered
Call of Duty 4, World at War and Modern Warfare 2 all on the same disc would be wicked!!
I think this discussion needs an HD Remaster.
Also THE DIG. And Deus Ex,
I think Human Revolution was a good follow-up to DE, so it’s not as in need of a remake as it was.
The Dig is also fine as it is, I don’t want to have to go through dealing with that dickhead Brink again.
Well yes, Brink was a muppet, but make the graphics pretty…
I’m not sold. Part of the charm is the clunky graphics…
Sometimes, those great games from the past don’t need to be updated (looking at you, Duke Nukem Forever)
I loved the Monkey Island remakes… that was how to do it right. 🙂
Forgot about those!
OK maybe a Dig remake could work… if they did it right!
Alright, Sony, are you out there? I am giving you FREE MONEY right now, so listen closely.
Take Monster Rancher 2, give it graphics and the ability to read modern day DVDs, Blurays et al. Then sell that. Ta da, back in the black!
As always, Little Big Adventure remake. I’d also like a modern version of Tyrian but the old one holds up really well so I’m not sure it’s even necessary. I’d also love for the Tenchu Series to be remastered and released on the more modern consoles/PC.
Superman 64 or Barbie horse adventures
Only if we get Naughty Dog to do it.
Deathrow from the original xbox….man I loved that game.
Eternal darkness. It would benefit massively from updated lighting, and it’s one of the criminally under selling games from the GC.
MORE PEOPLE NEED TO PLAY IT!
THIS.
I would give my left nut for a remastered Eternal Darkness, and my right nut for a sequel.
God damn dyack for dangling that sequel! I went from nostalgic bliss to frothing, and now I’m just unfulfilled.
The world is greyer.
Hopefully Shadow of The Eternals is returning to the Wii U, at least that’s something.
X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter, and the rest of that series, and make it have great Oculus Rift support.
Seriously, how are they not doing this?
I’d settle for a Demon Souls PC version
Shin Megami Tensei 1,2. & If…
The first Devil Summoner.
I want Wonder Boy redone as a 3D Mario 64 style game, where you go around collecting those dolls instead of stars.
Could include the option of being the girl & she could collect boy dolls.
Knights of the Old Republic. I want to get into those games, the stories sound great, but the game’s graphic and gameplay are too old and janky for me to enjoy.
Parasite Eve II
I’m going to borrow a few other people’s idea’s too since this topic was done about 2 weeks ago….
Mashed
F-Zero X
System Shock
WWF No Mercy (that’s a huge ask, licensing nightmares!)
Shenmue (as a trilogy, with the 3rd one that they’d have to make)
San Francisco Rush
Edit: Oh and Fusion Frenzy, maybe just as the Twisted System mini-game.
SHADOWMAN!!!!
You are one of my people.
Metroid 2
SR388 in glorious gritty HD 3D.
Master of Orion 2. It wouldn’t even be that hard… Update the graphics, leave the majority of the mechanics unchanged, maybe make some minor tweaks to the ‘auto-build’ feature to make micro-management less necessary, maybe update the combat interface a bit, and take out the cheese MIRV nuke build that let you destroy every AI ship with ease as soon as you researched it.
Also, not so much a remake, but for the love of god can Blizzard just release WA: Lord of the Clans already!? It’s a finished game just sitting there…. surely they lose nothing by giving it away to their loyal fans that have been waiting for it FOR 17 YEARS!
I would love for the GTA games that made it to iOS devices, be made available for the Vita also.
There has been one game on the PS2 that I hoped would get remade at some point, to which I have since found out that it is in active development, just not announced yet. It was a pretty niche title, but it certainly had a dedicated fanbase.
It would have to be TES: Morrowind
How about the original Fallout 1 & 2
Oni
dino park tycoon
Dragon Quest VIII. Playing through it again, I forgot how atrocious the loading times were at times, but otherwise it’s my fave JRPG ever.
Mobile version doesn’t count.
I’d love to see full remakes of the Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter Series’
I know there have been more games out on PS4 and Vita for Ratchet and Clank but the original trilogy are where its at.
Also Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Modern Warfare 1 and 2
And Please forget making any new Need For Speed Games UNLESS its a remastered Underground 1 and 2.
TF2 remade for my Xbox one (properly, not the vanilla version on the 360). I love the game but I hate KBM
Mortal Kombats 1 to 8 in HD
Vagrant story. Parasite eve. Resident evil 2. Silent hill 1.
The Bard’s Tale. But I did hear the guys behind Divinity: OS were remaking 2 old RPGs, one being Bard’s Tale.
Wolfenstein ET…Class specific activities that need to be accomplished by a team while shooting people in the face. The game just gelled so perfectly with co-operative teams hammering disorganised “army of one” asshats all day long.
Man ET was so good, can you even play it anymore?
I’m not sure if it’s still arround. By the time I stopped playing the servers had descended into hackfest clownery to my dismay…The missions in WH40K Eternal Crusade look a bit like they are set up like Wolf ET’s but without proper class specific actions limiting level progress I think it’ll probably fall short. (it won’t stop me playing the gack out of it tho 🙂
It would be great if they remade the first couple of Dragon Quest Games =)
A 3D or 2D/3D/ HD Remake of Final Fantasy 5-9 would also be pretty cool, oh and definitely a HD remake of Resident Evil 2 and 3 would be so awesome!
Jedi Knight series. The only star wars game that did lightsabers right.
Theme hospital, dungeon keeper and syndicate. PROPERLY done, not the 3d shooter syndicate and the blatant iOS cashgrab that I won’t even honor by naming as dungeon keeper. Then again, theme hospital is still great as it is. GOG time…
^ Many times this. I think we as games have lost out alot on these management sim games. All I see now are IOS freemium games trying to pass itself off as a strategy game.
My pick the original Valkyrie Profile, would love that on the PS4 or the PSV.
PERFECT DARK
Obviously Pokémon Stadium.
Pokemon Puzzle Challenge for the Game Boy Colour is totally rad and deserves more exposure.
Crash Bandicoot could be fun.
Simpsons Hit and Run, maybe?
Even though I never played it, I’m sure The Elder Scrolls Arena HD would be cool.
Does anyone remember Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magickal Obscura? Fantastic game with a brilliant story, could use a remake with better graphics, i.e. no more isometric “3D”!
Lucas Art’s LOOM. That game was grand and epic, and it had a spooky, offsetting vibe throughout. Beautiful yet depressing, like the Tchaikovsky Swan Lake soundtrack that accompanied it. The musical spells were a fun and unique touch. I could see this as a 2D update a la Monkey Island or fully 3D. Who wouldn’t want to walk through a fully realized Glass City?
