What Are You Playing This Weekend

I guess I should be playing new games like Dying Light, but here's what I am playing: old games. Old video games.

I wasn't going to play Grim Fandango. I played it back in the day, but I don't have this incredibly nostalgic relationshio with it. I hated the controls, I hated the inventory system and I think I got stuck about two thirds of the way through. This time I'm playing it, however, and I'm really enjoying the writing. I'm tolerating everything else. It's actually really, really good on the PlayStation Vita.

And, of course, I downloaded the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii U like any normal person would. This weekend is going to be Metroid Primed out. Metroid Prime is probably top 3 of all time for me. Such a colossal achievement. I can't way to replay it again.

What are you playing this weekend?

Well after telling us about the star wars humble bundle, I'll be playing Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Join the action on GameRanger. Star Wars multiplayer is back!

Apotheon, because it let me throw a hatchet at Apollo's face.

Shadow of Mordor. I think I'm enjoying myself, but it also feels suspiciously like Assassin's Creed: Return of the King

I thought there were some Arkham elements in there too. Batman's Creed: Mordor Asylum?

Fair call. The combat is indeed much closer to Batman, which is something AC would benefit greatly from imitating, too. Though I think we'd be here all day if we tried to list all the games that SoM is drawing from...

That is one of the best descriptions I have seen for Shadow of Mordor.

I should crack out Captain Toad or something.

I started Grim Fandango but I havn't found a time to get into it yet. Hopefully when I have a couple of hours free I'll sit down and give it a good crack.

    Brittania is back

Will play a bit more of the Battlefield Hardline beta. Don't mind it so far, but not sure it's that much better than BF4 (when BF4 is working, at least) to warrant a full price purchase when it comes out.

    Also PES 2015, because I can't stop.

Yep Hardline Beta for me, played a bit last night, not bad but doesn't make me wanna throw my copy of BF4 away either, it's substantially different I think.

Other than that I might play #IDARB

more destiny. That's basically my default answer at the moment.

I might try some more jiggery pokery to get my 360 back up and running. Dang thing powers on but doesn't look like it's booting

More Transistor, only played for half an hour or so last night and want to subscribe to its newsletter.

I think I might have a crack at Fallout 3 or Fallout NV.

A little Diablo 3 with friends, and then maybe a bit of EDF 2025 or possibly starting Tales of Graces F. There will most likely be some Disgaea 4 and Fire Emblem Awakening in between somewhere also.

    Yakuza 4 - thank you PS+!

Transistor, Yakuza 4 and Thief, might even try out Apotheon.
      Good month for PS Plus.

Couldn't agree more. Already dropped a few hours into Rogue Legacy, time for Thief and Transistor this weekend.

Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, Mini Metro, Besiege. Maybe a little This War of Mine.. GTA V if I find some time

No more Destiny...for now at least. Totally hit a wall and I'm getting 0% enjoyment out of it at the moment.

Picked up Assassin's Creed: Black Flag cheap at EB last night, so i'll be playing that.

Plus taking my time with my latest Mass Effect trilogy playthrough.

Episode 2 of Telltale's Game of Thrones.

Found the second episode to be much more engaging than the first. Enjoy!

Destiny. Maybe might try and knock out a couple more of my old adventure games. Finished Broken Sword for the first time a couple weeks ago and really itching to play the second one.

Gonna finish Bayonetta 1 and start on Hyperdimension Neptunia

The first Neptunia? Rebirth? I'd like to hear what you think of Rebirth if you are playing that version, as the whole combat system has been rejigged, amongst other things. I only played the original, which I thoroughly enjoyed :-)

Rebirth - picked it up last night on steam after seeing it was discounted, will post up at some point once I sink my teeth in :)

No TV, so probably some Wii U, Vita and 3DS again. I think I'm about to run out of playtime on my FFXIV account so I might give that a slam.

      What happened to your TV?

Apparently my mum is four years old so when her TV died I had to send mine over there to stop her throwing a tantrum. Played a fair bit of Tales of Hearts R this week. I'm enjoying it but I did hit a point where I had to learn how to play properly rather than mashing X which took a bit of the wind out of my sails.

The game of real life. And if I can squeeze any time in on the side maybe Kingdom Hearts 1.5 or Tales of Xillia

Ratchet and Clank with my son and brother nostalgia all the way maybe some mario if can squeeze in

don't have much to play this weekend. maybe a little bit more far cry 4 if I get bored.

Destiny - focusing on getting my alts to 31 with some better gear. Maybe raiding, if my group is available, tho weekend raids have always been especially glitchy, in my experience.

Rocksmith - Loving the power ballads they released this week, tho finger-picking in More Than Words is taking a lot of getting used to - been using a pick pretty much exclusively since I started playing 14 months ago.

Most of my time will probably be spent in Minecraft, tho - Looking for a nice place to move my base to... want a Magical Forest nearby so I can start farming mana beans for essentia, but failing that I can just have that offsite and accessed via a portal... if I do that, I may just end up building a void age and making a floating island. Also would be nice if I could go a bit more crazy, so I can unlock the Eldritch section of my spellbook - I want some essentia reservoirs. With a bit of luck, I'll find some cultists while out scouting for a building site, and loot one of their books.

Uh... I'll be buying Captain Toad, this weekend.

    Will I play it? No.

I'll be attending my niece's birthday party, and likely reading Sourcery by Terry Pratchett.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, especially the long hauls across Europe. :D
