With subscription tokens , purchasable with gold, coming to WoW, people with enough in-game gold income might get away with not paying any real money to keep their account active. So why not go through a bunch of methods on how to make a small fortune in Warlords of Draenor? They might come in handy soon.
Bellular collected ten really good ways in his recent video, without going deep into flipping the Auction House with dozens of characters or doing shady stuff. These are all basically combinations of finding the best solo content and using professions efficiently.
Here’s a short breakdown of all the methods shown in the video:
- Soloing 25-man Cataclysm raids. The more characters you have, the more you can do these each week.
- Bastion of Twilight trash runs. All you do is you go into the normal 25-man version of BoT, clear the first room of regular monsters, leave, reset and repeat.
- Doing Treasure Hunter follower missions using followers with the Treasure Hunter trait.
- Farming cloth at Sra’vess and the Ruins of Guo-Lai with a tailoring character. These spots seem to be the best ones gold- and item-wise in Pandaria.
- Focusing on Sorcerous transmutes with an alchemist character.
- Selling Savage Blood on the Auction House. It got a bit cheaper since patch 6.1 (on my server it still goes for around 450 gold each and people buy them in huge quantities), but it also got easier to collect them.
- Crafting Warlords of Draenor epics constantly.
- Gems and flasks still sell well on the Auction House.
- Farming the Battered Hilt in the Pit of Saron dungeon. It sells for thousands of gold on the Auction House.
- Doing Blackrock Foundry trash runs with a well-geared 5-man party converted to a raid. If you find any BoE epics, those go for tens of thousands of gold on the AH.
So as you can see, making a lot gold in WoW is really easy nowadays, much easier then, say, two expansions earlier, and while you can spend it all on rare mounts, transmog items or pets, it’s probably wise to save it till tokens are finally in the game.

11. Not spending your gold on useless shit
My transmog and battle-pet addictions are not useless shit, thankyou very much, I reject your accus– oh. Hm. You didn’t actually accuse yet, and that’s all in my head? Nonsense.
I find myself logging on less and less frequently, once of a morning and evening for garrison and twice a week for raids so I run at a gold positive from missions and salvage yard vendors
Actually, my transmog obsession earns me a lot more than I spend, too. A lot of the pieces I like are BoP boss drops, and soloing old raids and dungeons with a tonne of empty bagspace is a pretty damn fantastic way to make thousands of gold.
Edit: You just run through the raid, rounding up mobs like the pied piper rounding up kids… if the pied piper were a death knight who instead of sealing the children away from their parents, murdered them with a blood boil once they were clustered up.
If I do go soloing it is usually as Shadow spec, devouring plague keeps me alive, mind sear keeps everything else dead
We don’t know the Pied Piper wasn’t a Death Knight, we also don’t know what he did with the kids after they disappeared. Perhaps Army of the Dead is them returning for a short time.
11. Buy a subscription token and sell it for gold, converting your precious and limited time into a far better dollar-per-hour value than you’d have wasted trying to farm it.
Oh man totally this.. Tempted to actually reactivate my account since it’s now been inactive for what 3 months I think?
Those sub tokens are definitely one of the better ideas Blizzard has had in a long while.
I never bought gold before on WoW, not for any upstanding reason beyond that I simply never had the need to. But I had a few friends who bought gold in the past, and that was exactly their reasoning… They’d rather spend an hour of their pay than spend multiple hours farming in WoW. Couldn’t really fault people for it honestly, especially since they’re already paying to play the game as it is.
Yeah. Definitely can’t blame them for the urge…
I personally haven’t done it because my problem with the illegal gold-sellers is that they don’t just get their gold from farming, they get a significant amount of it from phishing/hacking and violating peoples’ accounts. Definitely something I did not want to see rewarded.
12. Lies
13. Cheat
14. Steal
15. Dont get caught
Thats what the chinese gold farmers and the russia mafia do things.
lot of legit gold selling companys. I Farmed/Sold gold to the chinese….prolly 500-900k gold a week. And i was just 1 farmer. Imagine the other 50 thousand Gold farmers that did the same. Hacked accounts dont normally have that kinda gold sitting around lol……The accounts for sale on other hand most likely hacked.
