Here’s a neat infographic-type, sort of poster illustration of 100 famous costumes from characters in movies, television and video games. It’s fun to see the outfits that are instantly recognisable (superheroes, Star Wars, etc) against those that require a little memory refreshment (The Breakfast Club, Rebel Without a Cause, etc).
The illustration comes courteous of Halloween Express.

I love all Doctor Who, but for iconic costumes I don’t see why anyone goes anything other than the 4th Doctor with a scarf, frankly.

Because he isn’t the new generation’s Doctor.
I like the idea but some of the colours seem really off – Shouldn’t Joffrey be in bright red and gold (or black with gold) and wasn’t Cloud’s originally purple (not aqua/turqiouse)?
Also I don’t remember Matt Smith’s Doctor wearing a pink or orange (or whatever that colour is) shirt…
According to this, yes, Cloud was purple.
What about the cenobites from hellraiser?
Most of these are great and easily recognisable, however some are super crude and lack specific traits.
Couldn’t agree more. How the creator could possibly consider some of these iconic is beyond me. I mean, characters like the Stormtrooper, James T. Kirk and Batman are clearly iconic but characters from games like Assassin’s Creed and Dragon Age? Please. No, just no. Not even worthy of being mentioned in the same breath.
granted, it was the article that called them iconic, not the image. The image merely refers to them as costumes, not iconic costumes. Personally I would have liked the image sans names and to see how many I could guess.
Ahhh right you are, sir. Then the fault lies with the author! I would also have liked the chance to guess as many as possible.
agree, most are fantastic and are truly iconic.
I think some or most of the video game characters are quite poor or should not be represented.
the movie ones thou are fantastic
Nice idea, but a lot of inaccuracies. I particularly like the detail on Chell’s boots. It’s almost as if being barefoot other than her heelsprings wasn’t an iconic part of the character.
And Kirk’s royal blue pants and collar?
In that particular case she’s wearing her Portal 2 outfit, which does include boots: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/40/Chell.png
