I’m Glad These Halo 3 Cut-Scenes Didn’t Make The Cut

The Halo series has always been a great source of ’30 seconds of fun’ shenanigans and still features incredible AI. To this day it’s my go-to for online multiplayer.

But boy-oh-boy did its story get a bit weird.

And these deleted cut-scenes, discovered and uploaded by Gamecheat13, are much like the deleted scenes you might see in any Blu-ray or DVD Extras disc: they’re of a lower standard then the rest of the product and were clearly removed for a reason. Most likely they were extraneous, didn’t push the story in the right direction or just didn’t make sense. Much like the entire story of Halo 2 and Halo 3, but let’s not go there!

Still, this is worth watching, even if it’s just to check out what Halo’s placeholder voiceovers. Man, Master Chief sounds so weird when not being played by Steve Downes.

For me, as a big fan of the series, this was super fun to watch.

  • If you thought the story got weird in the games, 343i completely wrecked the whole game afterwards.

Wanna know why humans can activate Forerunner technology? Because the Precursors selected them when they originally traveled the stars. Who are the Precursors? Why, they’re the creators of the Forerunners and humans.

It would be like if the Reapers from Mass Effect had their own Reapers they were trying to fight against.

    • Maybe I never looked too deeply, but I don’t remember any of that being in Halo 4.

And how do you know that wasn’t Bungie’s plan for the story anyway?
A lot of the terminals in Halo 3 reference stuff that is more overtly presented in Halo 4.

Also, I seem to recall reading that the original finale for the Mass Effect trilogy involved something badder than the Reapers.

    • I thought those story threads were technically started under Bungie with the books put out between Halo 3 and Reach, as well as in Halo Legends (although I’m not 100% sure that was produced under the Bungie era)?

      • Halo Legends was Bungie. And so was all of this, it was thought of way before it was even hinted to.

    • That was hinted at way before Halo 4, there was even a massive hint at the end of Halo 3: “You are the child of my Makers. Inheritor of all they left behind. You are Forerunner! But this ring… is mine!”. And I don’t get what’s wrong with that explanation either.

    • I don’t get your stance Neo, I have been a hardcore halo fan since day dot

I know everything about the halo universe and I play competitively still…. 343 fluffed multiplayer in Halo4, but don’t dare say anything bad about their campaign it’s not flawless but it was pretty damn good, also Halo 5 beta was pretty solid let’s hope you are all behind 343 on this one!!

      Haha 🙂
