Where They Once Were is a small, short, simple game that popped up on my Facebook feed this morning. I've spent the last 30 minutes or so toying around with it, and I think you should too.
It's all about survival in a harsh winter environment. There are four possible endings. My most recent ending had me being eaten by a wolf. Pretty brutal.
Created for a 48-hour Ludlum Dare competition, and worked on afterwards, Where They Once Were is minimalist and unforgiving. There are very few clues given and you will fail. It's worth restarting, however, and worth experimenting with. It's an interesting game concept and one I'd like to see fleshed out.
You can download and play the game here.
