Also: breaking. Star Wars is set in space.
Lifehacker Australia’s Chris Jager took a break from eating placenta pizzas to visit GTC 2015 and managed to snap this picture of C3PO and R2D2 in what looks like Tatooine.
You can head over to Gizmodo for the full story. It’s hardly surprising that the pair are in the movie, but nice to see it confirmed nonetheless.
Update: We’ve been duped! An eagle-eyed Star Wars fan has correctly identified this image from a demo reel for the abandoned Star Wars 1313 video game. Seems Nvidia was being a bit cheeky with its slideshow!

I’m just hoping we finally find out who wins the Star Wars…
Spoiler alert:
Micky doseDisney.Heat DeathThere will never be a winner. At best a majority of one or the other. If the light side wiped out the entire dark side, wouldn’t that be a holocaust? That action itself is dark-natured. Good and evil or the dark and the light will forever be present as long as up has down, left has right, and in has out. It’s not natural to have only one. As the Jedis serve the light side to bring balance to the force, not win it or decimate the opposition.
Merchandising Merchandisingg!! Where the real money from the movie is made.
I heard the Millennium Falcon is going to be in it too. God, I hope it’s true.
I think that’s pretty much confirmed. Fortune ran an article late last year with Disney’s CEO photographed standing in front of it (they’re building it full scale).
I know it’s in it, I was just trying to be funny.
Oh. Too many beers for me last night I guess. Live look at me right now:

erm yeah not to mention it was in the teaser.
It is!? Otherwise that must’ve been the Yearly Turkey we saw in all those pics! :O
It even has a new owner, Poe Dameron. Apparently Solo loses it to him at some point. This was a known thing, right? We’ve known that Anthony Daniels was in the movie for at least the last six months, probably much longer. Here’s a statement he made publicly four months ago: http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/c-3po-star-anthony-daniels-says-star-wars-episode-7-is-better-than-empire-strikes-back
yeah but….pictures!
You’re right. It’s good to finally be sure about it 😛
Yeah and he was also in that first (black and white) photo of the cast of them sitting around in a circle.
When you read the Gizmodo article it makes a bit more sense. Chris (from the AU team) saw that screen shot as part of an unrelated presentation and thought he’d stumbled onto the first screen shot of C3PO and R2D2 in the new movie. So it’s not confirmation but instead (what they thought) was the first actual picture of it.
(And to be fair 1313 looked amazing. I can forgive them for thinking it was an actual screenshot when they only saw it for a second.)
Maybe if you were closely following & not trying to leave a little suprise for when you actually watched it.
Oh, I’m the only guy does that now?
I remember last time they started releasing Star Wars movies and every ‘this character will be in it’ confirmation was met with dread. I was so concerned that it would be everyone meeting up even though an existing relationship was never mentioned that I never stopped to think maybe it’d be eight hours of a pod race you know the annoying kid is going to win at the last minute.
Yep. Well considering the whole series is Artoo’s story more or less (really, think about it), it’s no surprise.
Way back in the dusty realms of 2000, I wrote an extended school assignment arguing that the two droids are, while not the protagonists, the narrative voice and perspective of the Star Wars saga.
They absolutely are, they’re the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the story.
It is his story, because he is the real chosen one!
I like to think Artoo is the truly evil one behind everything personally…
Might be right with all that swearing he does
I know this was a given, but would have been nice to find out in the cinema, @markserrels
