Watching This Australian Make His Game Is Extremely Compelling

Usually when we watch ‘Making Of’ documentaries, they’re extremely polished and — crucially — are released after the game, meaning the story has already essentially been told. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end with a ribbon on it. This documentary is different.

To begin with it’s raw. Extremely raw. Made by the sole man behind Armitage Games, and he’s quit his job to work full time on it. This is essentially the story of one man making a game from start to finish when the stakes are pretty high. As such, it’s probably far more representative of most of the games currently being made in Australia.

Second of all, the man making the game is pretty charismatic. The videos are extremely watchable.

Thirdly: we have no idea how this is going to end. Will he even finish the game? Will it be a success? Either way, I’m finding it interesting just watching it progress.

The YouTube documentery is two episodes in and I’m enjoying it.

Give it a watch.
