Ubisoft showed a very pretty-looking trailer for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate yesterday at its E3 presentation, which is all well and good. But what about the actual gameplay? That looks nice, too!
Feast your eyes upon this short but very sweet Syndicate gameplay walkthrough:
I’m gonna be totally honest. I am not an Assassin’s Creed fanboy. I’ve often found myself wishing over the past few years that Ubisoft would either retire the franchise, or do like Rockstar and actually take it’s time between pumping out massive open-world games to make them actually feel unique, fresh, and fun every time. That’s in opposition to…whatever you’d call a game like last year’s unfortunate Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Syndicate, on the other hand, has gotten me legitimately excited. As the narrator in that video explains, they have retooled Assassin’s Creed long-stilted combat system to be more “brutal.” Brutality aside, wielding a cane sword also strikes me as historically appropriate, if not totally accurate necessarily. That’s the kind of detail-oriented periodization I’ve wanted to see in AC games for a while now.
Speaking of action-oriented historical periodization, there’s also carriage-jacking sequences. You even get to climb on top of the horse-and-buggy and start duking it out on the roof:
How can you not get behind this?!?!?!
There are also epic-looking fights on top of trains:
…beautiful scenery:
…and, of course, synchronisation points:
I might just have to take a leap of faith and give this series another shot.

I think i will wait till its release and read the reviews.
I’m not pre ordering the super ultimate special collectors edition ever again thanks to unity.
This. Very much this.
Ditto. Looks alright, but I’m not falling for that again. And again… and again.
Good. In fact don’t pre-order anything ever again 🙂
Edit: not being snarky. I’m actually saying its wiser to never pre-order anything and just wait for it to come out
After unity there will be no pre order Or even a purchase on the first month or so.
I’ll pick this one up in a year’s time when it’s on special or maybe on the next steam summer sale or something. Done paying full price for Assassin’s creed games after what Unity and Watch Dogs were. Over marketed mediocre games.
Note to all developers. Don’t let what happened to Assassin’s Creed happen to your beloved franchises. Don’t let greed control your release schedule.
after playing the demo today it made me even less inclined to buy it. yes I realised it was an alpha but they way they presented was appalling. it was like they were running in like1024, the level of jaggers and the seemingly complete lacking of AA made it looks worse than the original game. I wish I could say I was joking. It was on a PS4 on like maybe a 42 tv. As i left I saw it being played on a huge tv which thankfully made it look more like Unity on PS4 level of detail.
either they needed better kit or waited a few months to push the hype train. The fact that it was exactly the same demo we saw at launch also made it dull.
