The Vatican's Favourite Steam Game Is... Natural Selection

Pope Francis did say that he was totally cool with evolution last year.

Steam Spy, a service that collects data from Steam user profiles, recently shared some pretty funny info about the Vatican's gaming habits. These are the Vatican's top eight games, according to available data. Click on the top left magnifying glass icon to expand the image:

The Vatican's Favourite Steam Game Is... Natural Selection

It's...a kind of hilarious list. I would have never guessed an anime arse game like Hyperdimension Neptunia was a Vatican favourite! The Stanley Parable though -- a game where a voice tells you how to live your life -- is fitting. Whereas something titled 'Natural Selection 2' as the very top game seems almost ironic (it's a game about humans vs. aliens, for those that don't know).

The Steam Spy Twitter account has been sharing other fun factoids about popular Steam games per region, which you can check out here -- one of my favourite tidbits is the fact that America's Army is played the most by Italians, with Americans coming in second.

    People still play America's Army?

Fair enough, NS2 is an awesome game - pity I had to stop playing because of all the priests yelling 'Vaffanculo' in the chat...

imagine a bunch of priests huddled around a monitor staring at anime girls in a JRPG....

Only the evangelists have a problem with evolution. The Catholic church has officially been totally cool with it since the 50's. So no, it's not almost ironic.

Yeah, there are a few issues with this article.

"These are the Vatican’s top eight games, according to available data"

That's not what that data reflects at all.

Firstly, the information compares number of players in a region compared to an "average". With such a niche title, I would think that this mean is quite small.

If Arkham Knight was the most popular title, this would not appear since the population size of Vatican City is much, much smaller to other major centres.

Secondly, as someone has pointed out, this only reflects people who have selected Vatican City as their location. This choice might have been done for lolz and skews anything relevant from this even more.
