YouTube’s Top 10 ‘Trending’ Games For May

Courtesy of YouTube, we’ve got their list of the hottest games on the video giant for the month of May. Was there any doubt which game would win May?

As explained in our post for the top 10 last month, YouTube determines “trending” status through a combination of number of video uploads and watchtime.

Here’s May:

1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2. Life Is Strange
3. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
4. Splatoon
5. Kerbal Space Program
6. Rust
7. Batman: Arkham Knight
8. Assassin’s Creed Unity
9. Smite
10. Project CARS

YouTube says that The Witcher 3 was propelled to the top — from the seven spot in April — with the help of videos from Conan O’Brien and PewDiePie. Those two were a hell of a combo, accounting for more than three and two million views, respectively.

The biggest surprise is Life is Strange at number two. We’re not sure how that one ranked so high. Most of the others make a lot of sense, what with the buzz around Splatoon, the hype for the almost-launched Arkham Knight and the persistent curiosity about Kerbal Space Program.

The June chart should be interesting. It’s going to be topped by Fallout 4, right? Gotta be. (Or that surprise Metroid game that Nintendo better announce at E3. Fingers crossed!!)
