Call of Duty‘s popular zombies mode returns in Black Ops III, but it’s surprisingly ambitious. It’s now called Shadows of Evil, and not only has a full story, but it’s set in the 1940s and stars Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman, and Robert Picardo. What?!
Check out the amazing trailer below:
Yep, that looks great.
These new details were revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego today, where video games have continued to have more and more of a presence over the years.

Here’s how Treyarch describes Shadows of Evil, bundled with the game on November 6:
Call of Duty: Black Ops III: Zombies — Shadows of Evil drops players into a recognisable yet terrifyingly unfamiliar world, as they uncover the secrets and challenges laid out for them by a shadowy figure, who holds their fate in his hands. Set in a 1940’s film-noir era, Shadows of Evil introduces four unwitting characters — The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop and The Boxer — into an unravelling experience masterminded by the mysterious Shadow Man.
That’s wild. Gangster-era zombies with… Jeff Goldblum?!

The trailer highlights a new mechanic involving eating candy, which can apparently grant players with special powers that includes tentacle-like arms straight out of The Darkness:

(How come we haven’t gotten another Darkness game, eh?)
Players who buy the season pass will get access to The Giant, a remake of the popular zombies map Der Rise, starring Steve Blum, Tom Kane, Nolan North and Fred Tatasciore. It also comes with the Hardened Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition, though.
Gotta admit, even though I haven’t missed with Call of Duty outside of the single player before, everything they’re building into Shadows of Evil sounds like it’s right up my alley. Sign me up!

That goddamn cliffhanger ending for the Darkness 2.
I liked the game, but when I saw the ending I thought to myself, “I bet it doesn’t get a sequel.”
I think zombies are getting less and less enjoyable. Was much for fun when it was basic. Kill zombies, repair windows. unlock another room, get a gun from the box. See what round you can get up to with your mates.
Yep. I really miss W@W and BO1 days. They were some great maps.
Eh, Mob of the Dead I reckon was pretty kickass.
Now it’s all EASTER EGG EASTER EGG EASTER EGG
After the initial Zombies, my meter was stuck at this:

Not being fooled again.
Why are you surprised?
You had Call of the Dead, which had Robert Englund, Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker and Sarah Michelle Gellar with George A Romero in a special cameo. Then you had Mob of the Dead with Ray Liotta, Chazz Palimanteri, Michael Madsen and Joe Pantoliano…
You even had John F. Kennedy, Fidel Castro, Robert McNamara and Richard Nixon in sort of roles… Mob had a full story, so did Call. I mean sure this looks like it’s gone ‘next level’ but it’s really not an overall surprise?
But oh how sweet is it they got Jeff Goldblum 😀
I was really looking forward to zombies. Seeing that trailer did nothing for me though. Now Im sad……
