Five Minutes In The Shadowy Forest Of Feist

Five Minutes In The Shadowy Forest Of Feist

I won’t lie, I initially only downloaded Feist from Steam because of how much it reminded me of Limbo, but it’s a different sort of creature.

While it shares a similar look, the award-winning Feist is more action and less thoughtful puzzles, more immediate and harsh and less subtle menace. Still image evoke familiar feelings, but once the furry little survivalist main character begins tossing items and leaping over obstacles those feelings fade.

From the game’s Steam page:

FEIST is an atmospheric action-platformer about a small creature trapped in a mysterious and hostile world. Follow strange beasts through lonely forests, hazardous mountains, dark caves, and glowing swamps. Watch out for dangerous creatures that react to your movements and decisions with dynamic AI, and cleverly concealed traps that will test your ability to survive. Over six years in the making, FEIST is a gorgeous hand-made adventure unlike anything else, with a cinematic presentation reminiscent of The Dark Crystal or Hedgehog in the Fog, with a haunting original soundtrack by Tomek Kolczynski.

The First Five is the first five minutes of a game with light commentary. Once the five minutes are up, so am I.
