Knocking on the door to get access to the roof? Getting a ladder? That is for the weak. Harrisen Howes found a more complicated but entertaining way to rescue his small drone, which his friend accidentally crash-landed on his neighbour’s roof, by using a larger drone and coat hangers.
And luckily he documented (and added the proper background music to) the entire operation:
Two Months ago my roommate drunkenly lost my small drone on a neighbours roof. Two months later after upgrading to a larger drone I attempted a rescue of the smaller drone using hooks I made from coat hangers.
Also would like to add that access to the roof wasn’t possible which lead me to this haha.
MacGyver would be proud.

Would have been better if he lost both drones when attempting this.
We’re gonna need a bigger drone…
Ah the fun of losing a drone… i feel sorry for my neighbours sometimes. I’ve now learnt which houses keep their dogs in the backyard lol
Looks like a Syma X5 he lost too, which was my first quad lol
Reminds me of that guy with the remote control car on the frozen lake. It ends up getting stuck in the ice, so he sends out another remote control car set up as a recovery vehicle with a winch and everything.
Very cool, but;
What if hook had fail mid flight, dropped the dead drone, landed on someone, injuring them?
As drone tech and affordability improves, I think we are going to be seeing alot of this kind of stuff ie. drones carrying things…. and with that injuries to follow.
Saying that, I love drones, fucking awesome.
Same, I used to use mine with my Shield
Mythbusters tested drones to see if they can kill you. I won’t spoil the result but it was a fun episode. The other ‘myth’ they tested was very cool. Adam was completely geeking out.
This Summer at the iMax near you…
Black Drone Down… directed by Michael Bay… with explosions 🙂
He left the first one up there for 2 months?!
