Briefly: Thinking about picking up Codemasters’ latest racing game, F1 2015? Probably don’t — at least, not yet. The PC version is suffering from numerous issues, from frame rate drops and crashes to busted menus and controller problems. Codemasters acknowledged the issues and released a patch, but there’s still more work to be done.

Codemasters have been at it for 5 years and still can’t get it right. Useless.
Honestly, I don’t know why they continue to release this game every year. I love racing games, and I love f1, I even have a wheel and pedal setup. But 40 bucks every year for a few new features (some questionable) and driver changes etc is too much.
They are not listening to fans and the feedback they give, 40 dollars as I said is too much also. If they started to listen, and stopped rushing games out every year they would have a much happier fan base. By the time a new game hits the old one still has problems that are never addressed.
Take care of fans, release games wider apart and sell dlc for maybe 20 that update rosters etc in between releases. They would have a much stronger series that people looked forward to ea release. As it stands right now most just wait until a sale before they update.
It’s the same with Fifa. Every year you pay full price for a roster update…
I wonder how a sports game would go as F2P (maybe an initial small purchase) with content upadates and graphics updates every two years, a la League of Legends or any other MOBA?
They wouldn’t be able to afford the hideously expensive licences from the relevant leagues if they were free to play. That’s something LoL doesn’t have to deal with.
Do what I do (with PES rather than FIFA) – buy it every other year instead of every year
I wish they’d done this with the AFL game.
It had a solid foundation, just needed a few years of tweaks.
What do they do, they scrap it and port the Wii version!
The fools!!!
Yeah I did that this time around I stuck with Fifa 14 we only play it when the guys come around otherwise it doesn’t get much use. I’m not sure they would ever go f2p for Fifa. The license would cost a fortune and they know that most people just buy the new one every year. Maybe an unlicensed game would suit f2p better?

Why is it that developers have felt the sudden need to make the PC ports of games seem like an afterthought?
I mean, these are games (The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, F1 2015) that are played by millions of PC users. Why are they so bugged at launch and downgraded to match consoles? If I spend $1.5K on a gaming rig, I expect higher quality games dammit!
Its the Publishers, not the developers in most cases. A bunch of suits, with little to no knowledge of the industry, making decisions based on Return on Investment. Their only focus seems to be ‘release window’ rather than quality product.
…and that’s how we ended up with Ass Creed Unity.
For what it’s worth, I bought this game on release day – (got a cd key from gaming dragons and it was about $43AUD) and I have had no issues with the game. I’ve got a decent PC, some parts are old though, and it runs on Ultra settings 1080p @60fps. Only dips I’ve had in FPS is in the pit lane which doesn’t affect general gameplay. On track and during inclement weather, it holds 60fps. I downsampled to 1440p and was getting about 45fps.
I had one graphical issue where my back left wheel seemed to disappear for a lap and then reappear – and no I didn’t hit anything to cause it – but I only noticed that when I was messing around with views, I generally keep it to head cam or the tv car cam (cam just above drivers helmet).
I have not had any crashes and I have been playing with an Xbox 360 Controller and had no issues there. I will be hooking up my Logitech G27 steering wheel when I get a chance to hook it up so hopefully that works well too.
The game is a bit bare bones, there’s no real career mode. There’s the championship season where for either 2014 or 2015 where you just pick a driver and go through the season. Then there’s pro season which is basically the same but you are locked to helmet cam and there’s no assists (I think – haven’t played this yet). There’s also quick races and online MP. For me this isn’t a problem, I never really cared for the previous career modes and I just want to play as Daniel Ricciardo and play through the actual 2015 season.
For those interested, my setup is as follows for Ultra 1080p @ 60fps
i52500k oc’d to 4.2ghz
8gb DDR3 Ram
Gigabyte Gtx 780 GHZ edition (factory OC)
Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 mobo
250gb Samsung 850 evo SSD
1tb WD HDD (F1 2015 running from this drive)
Win 8.1
