An Assassin's Creed Syndicate Preview, In Three GIFs

They're showing Assassin's Creed Syndicate over at Gamescom in Germany this week. They're letting people play as Evie, the other twin in the pair of brother-sister assassins who are playable in this game. First observation from where I sit: the hat-knocking-off tech in this game is pretty good.

According to previewers at GameSpot and GamesRadar, Evie is stealthier than her brother Jacob, so she has a special ability that allows her to turn invisible when she's standing still. This does not seem to be a statement about how society treats women who keep to themselves but a riff on the familiar stealth game concept — seen in Metal Gear Solid 4, for example — that your character can be nearly impossible for enemies to spot when you don't move. Evie and Jacob each have unique abilities in this 19th century London adventure.

That first gif would have been better if the hat landed on the players head.

I was waiting for it too, it comes so close it looks like it's about to...but no

yeah, it's a missed opportunity. You should be able to go through a level and just stack hats on your head from your kills

That's what I was expecting. Though if it did I would've believed it was scripted and not random...

Hrmm.. looks interesting enough for me to keep paying attention.

Assassins creed.. again? No no no PIRATE creed is what we want. People bought asscreed 4 because of the pirates. People bought unity... hmm actually I don't know why people bought unity. Must have either really wanted co-op, or they really wanted to participate in the QA test.

As a long time fan of this series who bought every game with excitement, I think apathy has finally set in. When I see footage of this new AC game I feel nothing.
