Video: This seems pretty big. Ark: Survival Evolved has been blowing up on Steam for a little while now, and it’s coming to Xbox One. It will launch in Microsoft’s version of early access this (northern hemisphere) “winter”, with the finished game hitting sometime in 2016.

It’s been known it’s coming to consoles for a while now. The developers are big fans of early access though
They’re also one of the few devs that seem to have a firm grasp of what Early Access should be. Regular updates/fixes and good communication have made me actually see what Early Access *could* be, rather than the usual crap we do get.
As a side note, it ran like crap early days on PC. Be interesting to see how it goes on console.
How’s it running these days? I haven’t played it since it first came out…
I’ve had 15+ fps gain from it first launched and I haven’t been in the game for 4 or so weeks… Be interesting to see if it’s improved further
Pretty decent now. 45 fps roughly on an 8 core amd with 16gb ram and a 970 card. However nvidia is working directly with them to release an optimisation patch soon which is expected to boost performance at least 40 percent across the board.
I think that when DX12 is fully released, we’ll see even bigger performance gains. UE4 can’t handle DX11 effectively compared to DX12 – or something to the extent, the Devs have been mentioning that it’s a huge difference in the Direct X engines.
ARK is meant to have DX12 support mid-August.
Ermegerd. Skyrim with guns and dinosaurs. That can’t possibly be bad.
How is this like Skyrim in any way?
Everything can be described as like Skyrim…
See this shoe here, it’s like Skyrim but with laces…
Yeah this is on my to get list, I was hoping we would see it on xbox early access too 🙂
Console Master Race 😉
I just… I’m just not entirely comfortable with the concept of early access gaming.
Though it could be argued that with all the broken games we’ve been getting, triple A isn’t that far from early access itself. These guys did it right, constantly updating and fixing the game while interacting with the community. I honestly can say its the best early access experience I have had by a very long shot.
The Steam workshop’s kicked off pretty great as well. I think Kotaku had an article about someone making a few Halo maps for it through the workshop. I had a run through a few of them earlier – they are pretty accurate to the original material.
Great fun game, but it can get boring if you rush for end-game. Great thing about Wildcard (They Devs) they’re consistently interacting with the community via Steam Forums and Reddit and listening to feedback. 350+ hours spent on it in the last month and a half (or so) so far.
I just read this game will support DX12, anyone know how much will help the PC version…and possibly the xbox version?
Hopefully my comment earlier up the thread will help you:

Early Access is like Alcohol, you get hungover and swear to never drink again, but you always do, i did this with ark, and after 20mins of playing on lowest settings and my gtx 980 only getting 45fps i requested a refund
