A Brief, Yet Creepy Walk Through SOMA’s Underwater World

SOMA, Frictional Games’ follow-up to its Amnesia franchise, arrives later this month. To keep the wheels of interest turning until then, the developer has produced this video, showing off the game’s submerged, spooky environments.

Going through SOMA‘s rusty, barnacled world, once can’t help but think of 2K Games’ BioShock. The main difference between the two is that SOMA has a pure sci-fi bent.

As the Frictional’s website explains:

The radio is dead, food is running out, and the machines have started to think they are people. Underwater facility PATHOS-II has suffered an intolerable isolation and we’re going to have to make some tough decisions. What can be done? What makes sense? What is left to fight for?

Survival, one might proffer. If you’re keen to give it a try, you’ll have to wait until the 22nd. It’s currently available for preorder for around $US26 (this includes a 10 per cent discount) on both Steam and GOG.
