Celebrate 30 Years Of Ghosts'n Goblins With Five Minutes Of Death

On 19 September, 1985, Capcom unleashed one of the toughest video games ever to hit arcades, starring a brave knight and his brave underwear.

Ghosts'n Goblins was the game that answered the age-old question, "What do you do when the devil kidnaps your girlfriend?" The answer, which in retrospect should have been fairly obvious, is die. Die lots.

30 years later we've been through a lot with Sir Arthur, from sequels (Ultra Mega Hyper Ghosts'n Goblins) to spin-offs (Maximo) to crossover appearances (Marvel Vs. Capcom 3). But mostly we've just seen him being slaughtered in his underwear, as demonstrated in the five unfortunate minutes above.

On the one hand it'd be nice to see some kind of acknowledgement from Capcom (30th anniversary collection maybe?). On the other, with Capcom in the state it's in now, maybe not so much. Especially looking at what they did with Mega Man.

I don't remember this original... (i was two)

but boi do I remember ghouls n ghosts... what a nightmare, in the best way!

I remember Gargoyle's Quest. Best spin off ever.

Jesus, this game made me want to smash my Commodore 64 in a fit of rage.

I can agree with you wholeheartedly.

I think in the many hours I played I only finished it 2 or 3 times at most...

Wow, you did better than me - the closest I came to finishing it was watching my uncle do it on his C64!
