Disney Infinity’s Version Of The Original Star Wars Trilogy Is Way Different

It’s a kids game, I know, but the Star Wars fan inside me can’t help but go a little nuts over this situation. If Luke hadn’t met Obi-Wan yet, why was he on an Imperial ship with the rest of his friends? How was I killing grandma-murdering Tusken Raiders with a lightsaber before Obi-Wan gives me one?

From there we travel to Mos Eisley, where we are tasked with performing quests to earn the money to pay off Han Solo’s debt to Jabba the Hutt, which should negate the entire opening of the third movie. With not Jabba bounty on his head, Darth Vader probably would have just had Solo killed at the end of Empire. Or maybe Lando would have saved him.

The Rise Against the Empire eventually sees players travel to the forest moon of Endor, the Death Star and Hoth, where some walkers must be taken down with snowspeders, because every Star Wars game needs a Hoth scene.

It makes no sense chronologically, but the toys sure are lovely. Luke and Leia come packaged with the game level, so kids can make them kiss like in the movies.

The Rise Against the Empire set for Disney Infinity 3.0 is sort of like the original trilogy’s Gotham. Once you put established continuity out of your mind there’s a good time to be had, but man if it doesn’t make your head hurt first.
