Google Has A New Logo And It Actually Looks Good

Here is how the internet works: you create a new logo, a new design. You change something people are used to and everyone hates it. This is the way of the world.

Google has a new logo. It’s defying this rule. I like it. It looks really cool.

Here is the marketing bollocks explanation for the change:

Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens. As you’ll see, we’ve taken the Google logo and branding, which were originally built for a single desktop browser page, and updated them for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices and different kinds of inputs (such as tap, type and talk).

What the hell is an ‘identity family’? These people sure have to invent ways to justify the money they’re making.

It’s not really game news, but it reminded me of the time THQ changed its logo and everyone got angry for some reason. Everyone hated it. I kinda hated it. But Google’s change? I feel like it’s really nice. Makes sense.
