For the first time in a long time I am able to say that I am not going to be playing Rocket League and actually mean it! This weekend, dear friends, I am going to be playing a lot of Metal Gear Solid V. If all goes to plan.
But there are obstacles in my way. I have family over visiting, it’s Father’s Day on Sunday. It’s good times but it’s also tough times. I may have to sacrifice sleep.
But it’s Metal Gear Solid, one of my all-time favourites. And seriously, I’ve played the first couple of Metal Gear Solid missions and… this game is gonna be a problem. I’ve been waiting for a game like this. It feels special already.
What are you all planning to play this weekend?

I’ve caught the Diablo bug again. Help me!
Haha this!
Same here!
Really liking the new patch
Me too…it’s bad but so good at the same time!
My friends have been bugging me to buy Reaper of Souls for weeks now. I’m not going to cave, I don’t really enjoy playing Diablo. I did play it a bit before RoS dropped (but after the big patch).
Reaper of Souls was a game changer that added a hell of a lot to the vanilla game. Adventure mode, bounties, and so much more really made the game a different experience. What they’ve added since has only made that improvement better, and this latest patch is no different.
If you’re marginal on Diablo games, its probably not enough to change minds, but if you enjoy that type of game and were just disappointed, its far different to when it sounds like you played.
Definitely MGS5 Phantom Pain, as of last night I now have the heavy cargo Fulton, I plan to take everything not bolted down all weekend =)
MGS5: The Heistening.
Ditto. Gonna steal me some goats.
Witcher 3. Trucking along. Finishing all the side missions as I go. Level 23. Lined up Enhanced Ursine Armour at 25. Ploughing through missions, night after night… But there’s always more, and they are always unique enough to continue my forward momentum.
If I don’t platinum this mofo, I’m going to come damn close! Feel like I should get a certificate when I’m done…
I know what you mean. I’m at the skinny end of the game though. Level 32 with only the main quest, a few high-level treasure hunts and a couple of contracts left. It’s taken me around 250-300 hours so far and I’m not going to be doing a second playthrough. Platinum or bust! Luckily I’ve been careful enough to keep track of the missable trophies and take care of them during this playthrough.
It certainly is a hell of a game 🙂
Looking forward to this one – playing Until Dawn with mates tonight (maybe play it… until dawn?)
Coming to the end of both The Witcher 3 (PS4) and Persona Q (3DS) which is good. I’ll finally be able to play new games after many months of same old same old.
Ground Zeroes followed by Phantom Pain. There will probably be some Disgaea and SAO Re: Hollow Fragment in there somewhere as well.
Same here!!! Just a quick question: have you run into a bug in Ground Zeroes since the update that won’t let you past the mission complete screen?
You KFCing?
It’s father’s day, man. The day when fathers don’t get to do the things they want because, um, family.
That’s every day isn’t it? Lol, but yeah, family expectations that you will want to do ‘activities’ on father’s day, when you’d rather just turf them all out, tap a mini-keg and while away the hours in a state of intoxicated bliss 🙂
hahaha yep.
I’ll be driving a few hundred km round trip so that I can have lunch. Although depending on what the parcour is like I might crack a bottle of red and watch the cycling after everybody has gone to bed
Doing a bit of quick play testing this weekend. Probably a couple of mins of play for each game.

I hope you give Miku the respect she deserves 🙂
Also, going to be difficult to play Zero Escape and Danganronpa (amongst others) for only a few minutes as they are essentially visual novels with puzzle elements 😛
Good luck in any case, you have a job of work to do!
A-N?

😛
This looks like almost everything on the Vita!
Nowhere near mate…
In Australia = About 3/4, more or less?
The rest of the world = 1/10th, maybe?
I have an Aus PSN account, so that’s my reference. I would argue 3/4 could be classes as ‘almost everything’ 😛
Also not dissing the Vita, I’ve had one since launch and I love the little guy. My comment was about the impressive size of your list!
And why?
Too much time? Or not enough focus?
A bit of both…also, I Love my PS Vita so much <3
Love my Vita too! But mainly only play PS Plus freebies and remote play for a few games like The Wolf Among us and Game of Thrones – They’re really nice to play in bed lol
Y’know, I don’t own a Vita (or any PlayStation for that matter) but sometimes I feel like the Vita doesn’t really get enough respect. Sort of like the Wii U. All people do is look at the sales and see a failure.
As someone who owns an original 3DS model as well as the New 3DSXL (the old model was WAAYYY too small for my massive hands) I can say that while I will keep the 3DS and will play it well into the future with games like Luigi’s Mansion 2, Shinobi and Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, I do feel that the Vita looks like a better designed console (it doesn’t have that archaic single-control-stick layout that the 3DS has) and has some interesting exclusives (Tearaway) as well as the Jak & Daxter/Rachet & Clank/Sly Cooper trilogies that I missed out on due to lack of a PS3.
In fact the only reason I don’t have a Vita is because I’m building a high-end gaming/rendering PC that takes priority over the PSVita. I will probably buy one afterwards though.
Metal Gear. I am roaming around collecting Tarragon and Black Carrot and having a rocking good time doing it.
Definitely MGSV. Played for a couple hours yesterday and I agree, it already feels special. More supernatural than I was expecting but I love that. Wasn’t sure if the create your look bit at the start was a Kojima troll or serves some purpose later? Nice touch regardless.
I think it’s your avatar for online components. Haven’t actually got online to test that out though.
What game do you think!?
I’ve now reached a point where guards now wear full covering helmets, take anti-sleeping drugs and are setting up balloon decoys. I can’t believe I actually fell for one the first time I saw it.
Kaiser if you have sleep mines/grenades, might be time to switch to em! They get around the pesky full body armoured guys.
Failing that there’s always CQC!
Some are wearing gas masks. Still doesn’t ignore those anti-sleeping pills and wake up horns.
I’ve been forced to use CQC.
Wow smart guards!
This will be the last time i say World of Warcraft for a while i think… i have lost interest in the game as a whole and am going to play one last time this weekend before i cancel my sub lol… havent logged in for about 3 weeks now.
I finished Mass Effect last night (’twas awesome), so this weekend I’ll be playing pulling out Dragon Age: Inquisition so that I can play the DLC.
Like, all of Mass Effect? Or the first game in the trilogy?
Just the first game in the trilogy. I still have the other two to go, but I am very much looking forward to them based on how much I enjoyed the first one.
Wow, you are in for some fine gaming! The ME trilogy are games that I always think about cracking out for another go. Actually, thinking about that right now…
I’m In the same boat, took a long time to get into the first one, but absolutely loved it. now i’m back to getting into the 2nd one, with the 3rd to go…
I’m still getting to grips with devil’s third. Under the thick crust of terribleness lies a core of interesting gameplay.
But not in the single player, thats a massive waste of a good premise.
Just picked up Shadow of Mordor in the Bundlestars sale, might crack that open this weekend…
Will also inevitably keep playing Dota and CS:GO, and might keep trucking through Transistor.
I’m poor, so I’m gonna play Enthusia Professional Racing like a filthy peasant.
Just started MGSV last night, think this will last me a long while.
Binding of Isaac Rebirth and Nuclear Throne and working on my own game in between.
Yep, it’s Indie games all the way for me!
Okay, I’ll bite. Wotchya working on?
It’s just a first game attempt. Rogue like dungeon crawler type thing with some original mechanics thrown in that I think would be cool. Never seen a game with the twist to the genre that I have in mind.
Well, my steam drive showed up with some errors and disconnected itself from my rig, I seem to have gotten it spinning again and have since backed up my 1.8tb odd library. So this weekend I’m transferring it on to a WD black 4tb, and upgrading my OS from a 120GB SSD to something larger. So if all that goes successfully Ill actually get around to starting MGSV or Mad max. 🙂
Started a GW2 character so might play a bit more of that. Maybe a little hand of fate
Smash one or two more Crota / Atheon hard raids to try and get one of the ‘hardest weapons to get’ weapons as well as help a few of my mates defeat Skolas. In between doing ‘non-gaming boring stuff’ with the missus like shopping *yawn* and socialising *groan*.
Oh…..Oh and being a non master race person my ENTIRE LIFE, I finally used Steam for the first time ever and bought Euro Truck Simulator 2 for the Mac. Great fun. And uses a PS3 controller! Good times.
It also works in VR, and is surprisingly fun.
One day………..in the future………..
Looking forward to that!
MAD MAX primarily.
Also finishing off Metal Gear Solid 2. I’ve got MGSV sitting here, but want to (re)play through the rest of the series first.
Prepping for the big one.
And by that I mean Metal Gear 1 through GZ.
Busted out my old PSX copy of MGS1 last night and played up to the Communication Tower – I’m astonished at how well it holds up.
Going to do a lap of all the EB’s and JB’s on my way home looking for an HD collection – if I have no luck it’s a digital download.
I’m really looking forward to this! It’s something I’ve been meaning to get around to for ages.
I replayed MGS1 last year, and yes it does indeed hold up well. Such a great game. Good luck with your endeavour!
Thanks! Counter-intuitively, I’m enjoying it more than Twin Snakes, which I put down after about an hour. Methinks nostalgia is playing a large part in it but eh, whatever works.
I played 1-3 last year in a bit of a marathon. Gamecube Twin Snakes for pt 1, and HD collection pt 2,3. Loved it.
Finished the original back in the day on PSX.
After the first 3 I started pt 4 and Peacewalker. I decided to take a break for a bit but never went back.
All this MGS V talk has got me motivated to get back into 4 and pick up GZ and pt 5.
And yeah, agree that Twin Snakes isn’t as good as the original.
Good luck stu!
Successfully grabbed an HD collection on the way home – it’s so on!
And, you know what ruined Twin Snakes for me? No option to invert the Y-axis.
Can’t wait to really get stuck in. I’m more motivated for this series than I’ve been for years!
Trying to decide which platform to buy Metal Gear on.
How is the PC version? I’m running a Titan X in the Colorist machine, so could play on there. Or should I get it on PS4?
Argh. Decisions…
Also, just replaced the LCD screen in my Atari Lynx with a far, far better one. Going to be lynxing it up all weekend.
cleaning then MGSV. Then it will be guiltless.
Mad Max mostly I think, maybe some more destiny in anticipation of the 2.0 patch hitting Tuesday which changes so much of the base game.
Probably some more Ground Zeroes as well….wish I could afford TPP
I might try Ground Zeroes again to see if it’ll finally work and let me complete a mission. So far all week it hasn’t let me complete the starting mission, just freezes up on the mission complete screen…
If it works I can get the extra stuff like Hideo Kojima transferred over to Phantom Pain.
I bought a PS4 and MGSV this week. Now that I can occasionally get through a base without having to murder everyone, I’m totally hooked.
Congrats on the purchase! Are you coming to PS4 from PS3/360 or jumping into consoles for the first time?
Some Destiny… probably. Will try to get into Ground Zeroes, see if I want to pick up TPP – never been a fan of MGS’s stealth gameplay, but watching someone being about as sneaky as I am in Far Cry (which is to say, start out sneaky, take out a couple of guys in silence, screw up, and have the entire base after your arse in moments) intrigues me.
Probably some Mad Max, too. I hear it’s… “adequate.”
(That’s my MGS style too)
MGSV has this thing called reflex mode that compensates for that. Essentially you go slow motion for two seconds and whatever saw you is highlighted. If you take them out quickly/quietly enough the guard won’t have time to be properly alerted. It makes things easier but more importantly it makes the stealth flow better. You still want to avoid getting seen but if some jerk decides to turn around right as you’re sneaking up behind him it lets you earn a second chance by having reflexes quick enough to land a silenced head shot (or if you’re close just grab him).
Yea, that’s what I was talking about. Earlier games I tried seem to insta-fail if you get spotted (iirc), and it’s the main reason I never got into the series. From my 5-ish minutes with GZ last night (before getting distracted by a raid invite), the stealth seems leagues ahead of where it was last time I touched a MGS game.
I found they weren’t so much insta-fails as long, drawn out failures where the sweet stealth game turns into a crappy third person shooter until the enemies either kill you or you hide long enough for them to all respawn. =P
Whoo MGS V weekend! Got to find me a transport specialist so I can upgrade my fulton and start stealing more stuff including vehicles for the first time.
Mad Max. I really was going to get MGSV, but at $30 I couldn’t resist getting Mad Max (that, and MGSV is $80 everywhere and Ozgameshop was out of Steam codes by the time I looked).
Download should finish tomorrow, looking forward to it. Probably will try BioShock Infinite from the GMG Golden Joystick deal first though.
Destiny. Going to do some raiding. Might pick up the Gears of War remaster and play a few missions.
MGSV, I’d try to at least finish one game of Until Dawn but MGSV. I’ll no doubt be dragged into some coop play of Diablo III with MrsBS over the weekend and all I’ll be thinking will be when I can go back to MGSV.
I’m kind of between portable titles at the moment. Waiting for Miku on 3DS to drop. A bit of Toukiden on Vita though.
MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV MGSV
Im going to play Metal Gear V hard. Ive been playing since Tuesday, and I havent had this much genuine fun paying a game in ages. Its the best. But ive been dong alot of messing about, I’ve only just finished the “Where do the bee’s sleep mission”. It was amazing.
Hmm tonight probably more mucking around on that BF4 night map and maybe knock some more off Arkham Knight before Fathers Day where I get to take the wrapper off MGSV!
Mad Max
Akham Knight (PC) with the new patch.
Also, “A Tale In The Desert” is under new management and is currently running a free open-beta before it goes live with the next “tale” (#7) on September 11. This game has been going for a decade or so, I’ve played it on and off over that time.. I’ve pre-ordered (if you can call it that) a 6 month subscription for when it goes live… will have to see how long I last between my new and longer commute, having a 2 year old son, and a wife who hates any games beyond games that can be played “together”.. like 2 player split screen stuff etc.
MGSV and Mad Max, eager to get stuck into them!
Trying to attack the pile of shame before the next Steam sale so it’s Arkham Origins in the evenings. During the day I’ll be feeling the force with Disney Infinity 3.0 on the PS4 with my girls.
More MGSV, interspersed with pet battling obsession in WoW, and maybe some more Pokemon on the side.
MGSV though. Thus far it’s everything I was hoping for.
EDIT: Also debating a Survivor playthrough of The Last of Us as well, but should honestly leave that until I’m at least done with MGSV, or over the hump. Just TLoU. Hngh. Amazing.
Finishing off the Witcher 3 this arvo (on the very end now) and then I will be Metal Gearing out my ass all weekend!
I get to do the adultiest thing I’ve done in a while which is go pick up some furniture … from a store, no more of this gumtree second hand junk for me. Plus probably cranking out some stuff in destiny to try and get a specific exotic bounty
Did you hear that they will be auto completing the exotic bounties? I got the Bad Juju one the other night, so won’t have to go through that pain at all! So happy about that lol
Yeah it’s pretty awesome. I suck majorly at pvp so I’m hoping to get the thorn or invective bounties just to add them to my vault.
I spent months on that thorn bounty, and only completed it a couple of weeks ago. Am bloody pissed… but also happy I don’t have to do bad juju lol Thorn wouldn’t have been so bad if I had a Void Primary, but doing it with a shotty and rocket launcher was just a rage-fest
I wish it were something new but ive still got to finish the Witcher then get stuck into Dying Light a bit more as Ive only played 4 hours of that one..
After which I still have Wolfenstein last play through to plat it…. just DONT get the time!!!
GTA and Destiny, seriously can’t stop playing them
Probably Bastion and Fallout 3 with some Mega Man Legacy Collection scattered in-between.
