The end of October is a time when everyone in WoW is busy doing all the Halloween events, but it’s also a time when thousands of level 1 Gnomes meet up in Booty Bay every year and they all run to the other faction’s capital to have some fun.
Around 2500 people showed up for the event this year, organised to raise awareness of breast cancer (more info and donation info here). It turned out to be quite a spectacular march. You don’t really see so many people — and so many Chauffeured Chopper mounts — together in the game nowadays.
And even though it was a party of thousands, level 1 Gnomes are not really effective against level 100 horde players or faction boss NPCs.
But it was super-effective to eventually crash the server.

ahh yes the annual running of the gnomes
A good time was had by all 🙂 cant wait for the next one 🙂
It’s fun, little community events like this, and seasonal stuff which make me miss WoW.
Seasonal Events? Pfft. Bring back Tarren Mill. Every day.
LET ME AT ‘EM! Oh wait I don’t play WoW anymore. Damn those gnomes though.
EDIT: Oh, it’s for a good cause. Never mind me then. Thought it was just gnomes running around asking to get attacked.
Right? The very sight induces some kind of paralysis. I’ve only got so many limbs with which to punt and drop-kick!
I guess at the end of the day you just have to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
“When I was on Blackrock, we’d raid Ironforge on Argent Dawn almost on a daily basis with level 1 gnomes screamin’ ‘OMG, Blackrawk Downs!!1’ in general chat. Thems were the days…”
Was usually whenever Blackrock went down. We’d all log onto Argent Dawn, with our lvl1 gnomes who were in the ‘Exiles of Blackrock’ guild and sit in Ironforge yelling about BLACKROCK DOWN! until it came back up.
Those RPers didn’t like us much.
I remember hearing about an event for Taurens in the past, might have been something to do with commemorating Cairne, or Running of the Bulls or something. Are there still any mass Tauren events that happen and if so when? Thanks
